“Had a delicious meal tonight at the Larry Uteck location with my family. Portions were very large and great taste. But what made our night is the incredible server we had who was both witty, charming, funny while also very professional. He made my parents and grandmother all smile and laugh which was really appreciated. It is excellent service and quality staff which make a resteraunt not just the food and clearly Morris East knows this.“

“Some of the better food I have had in Halifax.!I was with someone whi has travelled the whole world and she thought it was outstanding. Top notch service, highly adaptable and friendly but professional. The halibut cheeks are extraordinary. Not all fine food is found in the boardwalk. I would say that i prefer this over some of the higher priced restaurants. Anthony Bourdain would have gushed over thus place I think.“

Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“Small but mighty sit down restaurant. I treated it like a fast food joint and was not disappointed. Food came out quickly and tasted great. My waitress, Anastasia, is one of the nicest and most down to earth people, and was a pleasure to chat with.“

“We went for an anniversary dinner and it was spectacular. We ordered the scallops and pork belly appetizers and they were both amazing. The scallops were cooked to absolute perfection and the pork belly was so tender and flavourful with a pear sauce that is unmatched. For our mains we ordered the tuna and the short rib and they were both over the top. This restaurant offers fine dinning without a pretentious atmosphere. Very comfortable little restaurant and some of the best food I’ve ever had! All in (before tip) and after tax our dinner cost $130CA including two drinks, two appetizers and two entrees. Will definitely be back!!“

“I have tried their cider at another restaurant and really wanted to go and see them at their’s when they’re for my 50th birthday and loved it it was great if I wasn’t flying home I would bring some cider home“

“Food was pretty good for the most part. We particularly enjoyed the brown bread and pork belly and scallops. The hodge-podge was decent, though I thought the fish cake was underwhelming and the included brown bread didn’t match too well with the dill cream sauce. Note that the hodge podge is also quite rich and heavy due to the cream based sauce.

Service was pretty good except it took much longer than expected to get the bill. Once the patio space filled up, I think the lone server could’ve used some back up (maybe another team member to help).

The space is beautiful regardless if you sit inside or outside, no complaints there.“

“This was one of the best meals we had on our Nova Scotia, PEI vacation. We saw the sign from the highway as it was near the airport. We decided to go for dinner and we so glad we did. We had the scallop dinner, and a baked halibut special. For dessert, we enjoyed the most delicious blueberry shortcake. Our server was friendly, super fun and definitely a very hard worker. We wish we’d sernit the night before as we would have eater here two nights.“
