“Put this on the top of your list. Away from the tourist traps, and bordering on North Halifax where it’s just a little edgier and fun. Sit at the bar and enjoy the chats and good vibes with stunning food.

What a little gem 💎 Discreetly tucked deep into this shop front, the cool air, atmospheric lit interior and warm welcoming service was so lovely. We didn’t have a reservation but the super cool matre’d hustled us 3 great seats on the bar while we explored for 15 minutes.

Tori was our fab server who was knowledgeable about the menu and a ‘complete hospo pro’. We felt welcome and looked after.

The food is AMAZING, we had the Tuna tartare and burrata to start then the Halibut, duck breast and the tagliatelle mains. All so tasty, filling and well priced.

It was bustling on a Thursday night so definitely book to dine or chance it and hope to get lucky like we did 😊“

Hop Scotch Dinner Club Canadian • $$$

“A Hidden Gem!

Reta's is a delightful spot where every dish bursts with flavor and the service is always warm and welcoming. From the first bite to the last, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It's a quiet, cozy place that lets you truly enjoy your meal and the company you're with. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing dining experience with amazing food!

I wish the plating of the duck dish would be a bit different. We couldn't enjoy the sauce much without ordering the sourdough bread. Also if spoons were provided without asking as the sauces go to waste and we cannot enjoy them with the fork so the amazing sauces are wasted.“

“One of the best dining experiences I had in Halifax. Everything at Drift felt thoughtful, from the beautiful waterfront setting to the genuinely warm and attentive service.

The Atlantic salmon tartare served in mini waffle cones was creative, fresh and beautifully presented. The Nova Scotia lobster hushpuppies were exceptional, crispy, rich and perfectly balanced by the citrus aioli. For my main, I had the roast chicken with rappie pie. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the rappie pie was comforting and full of flavour. It’s still chicken at the end of the day, but this exceeded every expectation I had.

The cocktails were also outstanding: distinctive, well-balanced and made with exactly the right amount of alcohol. The biggest surprise was a complimentary bite from the chef a delicate cracker which may genuinely have been the best bite of the entire meal.

Excellent food, creative presentation and 10/10 hospitality. Drift offers a real taste of Nova Scotia rather than simply another upscale restaurant meal. Absolutely worth visiting.“

“Was just here and got the pesto chicken sandwich. I had to force myself to finish it. It was horrible. It was like you're trying to make a chicken salad sandwich fancy. wished I spent half the amount and just went to Subway.
Tried to fish cakes from my partner's dish and they were 10 out of 10. Temperature, texture, taste, perfect.“
