“Stopped by on a Saturday night trip from Ontario and ended up at Edna on a friend's recommendation, no regrets at all. The scallops were some of the best I've had, perfectly seared, and the whole menu felt like it actually understood Nova Scotia seafood instead of just cashing in on it. Our server knew the wine list cold and didn't rush us even though the place was packed. Small dining room so it gets loud, but honestly that just added to the fun, lively vibe of the night.“

We both had regular fare lattes which were excellent with great presentation. Flavor was great. Not a Starbucks so dont expect a bunch of different flavors or options. But for a well prepared coffee or latte, it is a great option in the city.“

“Stopped in with hubby and the doggies for lunch. Was thrilled we could have the dogs with us at the table on the patio and that there were water bowls provided. Service was a little slow and unfortunately our order got lost and it took a while to get our food. Kitchen tried to rush the meal to make up for the delay and our spinach dip was still cold in the middle. Overall the food was good and I would return to try the food again.“

“I'm sitting at the bar in the Garrison Brewery as I write this, and it's a quintessential brewery experience. There's a huge variety of beers on tap available in pints and flights, and everything I've tasted in my flights has been fantastic. The Mango Dragonfruit sour in particular is exceptional.

There's great merch, plenty of space and plenty of atmosphere. It's making for a great Sunday afternoon and a great example of the craft beer scene in Halifax. If I wasn't alone, I would definitely be getting into the Barrel End flight board - 13 x 4oz pours, mounted onto the cap of a classic wooden beer barrel. Can't beat that!“

“My friend's and I recently had lunch at La Piazza. The food was absolutely delicious, the service exemplary and the atmosphere is very cozy. The cheesecake is delicious but a tad over priced, as were all the deserts, in my opinion. All in all, a very nice experience and we will definitely be going back for our monthly Ladies Lunch.“

“Since Covid I have very rarely been downtown and so today when I had the opportunity I went to my fave place and ordered the Pho GA and The lemon grass chicken Bahn-Mi. It was even better than I remembered! Lots of chicken, the yummy housemaid citrusy mayo and the bun which is absolutely amazing. The res chillies for me is what makes this so darn tasty - so thanks for that kind associate behind the counter who acccommodated my request!“

“Stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday around 7pm after wandering the waterfront all day, and the seafood chowder was easily one of the best I've had in Halifax. Our server was genuinely great, patient with all my questions about the boat and happy to point out which table had the best harbor view. The dining room has this cozy nautical feel without being too touristy, which was a nice surprise for a spot right on the boardwalk. Already planning to bring my visiting friends back here next weekend, it's just a solid, no fuss dinner with a great story behind it.“

“Chilly day on the water front ...thanks to Becky and Alexa for the great latte to warm me up .The service was fast despite problems with the debit machine . I still miss the DG on Spring Garden Road ( hope they come back after the dig ends)but it is worth the walk . Love this cafe.“

“There’s something really cool about visiting the original King of Donair location, where Peter Gamoulakos first opened the restaurant.

The place has a fun, nostalgic vibe. There are old-school arcade games you can play for free while you wait, King of Donair hats, and some cool artwork that gives the restaurant a lot of personality.

I’m a big gyro fan, so the donair itself wasn’t really my thing. The meat was great, but I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce. That’s probably more personal preference than anything else.

We also tried the pizza, which was really good, and my kids absolutely loved it.

The kitchen area does look a little dated, dingy and could use a refresh, but overall the history and atmosphere make this a fun stop.

Definitely worth checking out, especially if you want to experience a piece of Halifax food history where it all started.“
