“Very nice place for lunch. We ordered the soup which was carrot and ginger, I really liked it it was full of flavor. I would have preferred without the small chunks of carrots so that it would have been creamier but I guess it’s just a personal choice. The kimchi sandwich was also very very nice. The first half I ordered was not hot, I guess I should have told them but was too hungry so it wasn’t as nice as I expected. I ordered it again and this it came nice and hot. The gingerbread cookie was super tasty. Staff is super nice.“

“This cafe is a staple of the city - if the library cafe (rip Pavia) is crowded or you need more serious food for breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go. Car parking is a nightmare so walk or bike down here - hopefully they'll get the permanent bike lane connection completed and then travel here will be a dream. Outdoor patio is usually the latest, so late summer days (sep-oct) this is one of the places to go. Note - hours are always wonky so have a plan B. They're also wrong by design - kitchen shuts down supppper early and THAT should be the closing time for the day. It's not. So expect an hour before closing to be told no more food is available.Food is sandwiches and wraps, really great (veggie options!) Baked goods, awesome smoothies (purple is a favourite).Vegetarian options: Some solid veggie and vegan options, but it's a breakfast location that caters to traditional fareParking: Much better for biking or walking to here since it's downtown. Fixed bike lanes nearby but they randomly stop right before and right after this block.Kid-friendliness: Youngest kids are ok outside, indoor there's lots to see but it's very compact and it's a coffee-culture crowd so is probably really boringWheelchair accessibility: Outdoor wheelchair ease of access, but you'll maybe need someone who can order - the main door is very narrow and I don't think it stays open well.“

“Tried out one weekend because it looked popular and busy. Not super excited about t the parking situation and how few seats were available with those people lingering around with their laptops. The staff were very attentive and nice. Wish that they had home-baked healthy cake instead they have OK quality factory mass-produced sweets. Could be better operated if there was more “personal” touch in quality.Parking: If you are lucky, you could find a free parking spot in the side street but usually very busy and hard to find one especially with snow:(.“

“Overall - a wonderful bakery. Highlights include the white sourdough (Fremont), croissants, and beignets. The homemade hazelnut spread is also to die for. Service is generally warm and the dog friendliness is certainly a bonus. There are however a few mediocre items that could use some improvement — some of the loaves are mealy tasting (esp the whole wheat sourdough) and some of the pastries are lacklustre (I find this especially with the tarts, like the blueberry tart).“

Nour's Cafe & Grill Cafe • $
Unit 235, 7071 Bayers Rd, Halifax

“Nour's Cafe and grill was recommended to me as i was in the area. And i was not disappointed. Friendly service. They have a speaker set up to hear each other properly. I got Nour's bagel (jalapeño and cheese) with egg, lettuce tomato. It was cut in half (didn't even ask for it ) tasty, grilled, and still warm. And bc i was still hungry, i got a small portion of their fries. MIAM! The spice they put on the fries are amazing. It adds more flavor. I would just decrease the amount of salt. The spices are enough, in my opinion. The portion was quite generous for small size. The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 stars is the salt, and limited payment options: debit or cash.It was a positive experience overall. Thank you!“

“Oh, god love you, Alter Egos. Worst coffee in town, but I still go there pretty often. It's a community, it's a meeting place, it's a perch. Bobby hangs out there, so it's automatically a g.o.a.t. establishment and ally. Honestly if they figured out how to use the espresso machine it would kill the vibe. Never change, Alters.“

“Hello stranger (wavy hand emoji). I have something to say about this café, and you wanna know more about it before going there — which is fare. I’m a regular here — and let me tell you why.[ disclaimer: It is gonna be a poetic/romantic kind of review, so be prepared ]Walking in, you enter a bright warm space (writing it in winter so the warmth actually is a favourable feature). This is where I’ll be telling you more about the space itself. Plants are literally all around. Fantastic. Cozy. Green. The panoramic windows warm my heart. It is quite bright here, and little artificial light makes the space evenly illuminated. And of course the warm-light vintage light bulbs — I will leave it for your imagination. Love it.The music definitely fills the room just enough as you expect it to. The quality of the speakers is fairly good. And the tunes supplement the mood somehow. (Alternative/Indie/R&B/Soul/…)The kitchen is right behind the bar — sometimes you can literally see the steam leaving the stove for a second — a lovely view. [ Sorry, I’m just a big time culinary fan, couldn’t mention this aspect as well ]. And nothing heavy was cooked in my time being there, so no strong odour really. You get to see the metal cooking utensils and the cooking process — blessed. The art gallery wall. If local artists’ paintings is one of your meditation objects — you are welcome. The food menu has both sweet and savoury positions — come and try — I’m not gonna include it in this review since my time here rarely about eating, but the things I’ve tried so far left me satisfied. It is mostly coffee for me. Not as a «coffee culture» really, but more like an instrument. And for a person like me — it is greatly done. Baristas are nice and working hard — tip them well it is important!!Okay! Some of my experiences I will hold to myself. Too personal, too intimate. But in conclusion/ this place will make you feel. Feel its atmosphere, its diverse and soothing surrounding, its convenient space design and the urge to come back. And I SWEAR you will want to share it with someone at some point.«In the hush that flows, My thoughts find their dance, And I am at peace»See you there (wavy hand emoji).“

“I recently moved back into the area and was hoping to have brunch here every weekend. I had the Madurito breakfast which was a wonderful treat. The flavours were exotic and well balanced and I left quite satisfied. The breakfast came to $30.00 including tip. After searching online, I found this was almost double the price of any breakfast in Halifax. Wonderful food, but keep in mind you are paying for inflated food costs and for specialty ingredients. Not affordable on my budget, unfortunately.“
