“We had an outstanding dining experience at The Press Gang that was enhanced by our server, Lindsey. We started with oysters and yellow-fin tuna. Both dishes were scrumptious. Our mains were the Tuscan Atlantic Salmon and Seafood Risotto. Both were excellent and Lindsay suggested the perfect wine pairing. This was by far one of the best dining experiences we have had!“

The smash burger was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy all the way through, exactly what you want after a day of exploring the waterfront. The staff were relaxed but attentive, checking in without hovering, which made the whole vibe feel like a neighbourhood spot rather than a tourist trap. Already looking up flights back just so I can eat there again.“

“My son and I attended the John Prine Tribute Show Saturday night; the talent was spectacular and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, during the music break, I became ill very suddenly (non alcohol related), and got sick as I tried to reach the washroom. I was so embarassed and upset, but a lovely customer and the owner were incredible. Emma and Karen made sure I was well taken care of, cleaning me up, calming me down, rubbing my back, getting me water and wet/dry cloths. I can't thank you both enough! “Came upon Stillwell almost by accident. There were a lot of places to get a beer in the area but the Beergarden offered a unique and serene outdoor setting. The staff were great, the beers varied and delicious and the food options perfect. So glad we wandered by!“

“This is our local taproom. I just love this place. Great bunch of people...staff and patrons. A great place to relax and enjoy some good conversation. The beer is the best in Halifax if you're into craft beer. Always a great selection and the beers rotate frequently so you never get tired of drinking the same thing....unless of course you want to. They have some specialty snacks to enjoy with your favorites beer too. They do not serve food, but you're welcome to bring in whatever your heart desires, in to eat. Jesse's Pizza and CHKN CHOP are just steps away.A couple of my favorite beers are 12 Years to Zion, DOA and Flat Black Jesus. I'm sure you'll have your own favorites.“

“Popped into levelbar after an afternoon of socializing.
The food - for pub food, was definitely on the higher quality side. Everything has good flavour and was well balanced in terms of salt. I had the chicken wings and an order of fries. Lots of food even though they are both side plates.
Service was fast and friendly.
The atmosphere was chill, it’s nice when places do a good job of acoustics and set the place up so sound is absorbed and you can hear the people you are hanging out with.
Would definitely return.“

“I was meeting my cousin for the first time in many years and he selected this British Pub. Food was excellent, with one of the best chowders I have had for a long time. All the typical pub fare you would expect including a range of pies, curry and a very good special - Lamb Shank. Good beer menu and a decent bar/games room downstairs.“

“We celebrated an engagement and the hostess arranged for appetizers, prosecco and all the accoutrements in perfect timing for our family toast of congratulations. The main course and special cocktails were excellent and up to our high expectations! The blueberry buckle gifted by the restaurant to the newly engaged coupler was delicious and most appreciated. “Besharam Bar and Grill delivered a very mixed experience. The service, however, was truly outstanding and deserves full credit. Our server was extremely thoughtful and attentive throughout the visit—easily a 5/5 for service.
We had ordered a curry at medium spice level, but it turned out to be overwhelmingly spicy to the point where we could not continue eating it. Even then, the server went above and beyond. Despite us saying not to, they proactively replaced our naan, explaining that by the time the curry was remade, the bread would have gone cold. That level of consideration really stood out.
To make up for the experience, they also treated us to a complimentary kulfi, which was excellent—rich, authentic, and delicious.
Unfortunately, the kitchen did not match the same level of service. The cooks were not accommodating at all, even for a simple request for a child. We asked for something as basic as sautéed paneer and were willing to pay full price or any additional charge, but the request was refused. We also wanted to order a sizzler listed on their website, but it was missing from the in-store menu and the kitchen declined to prepare it. Instead, they offered limited alternatives that did not meet our needs.
Overall, while the servers made every effort to improve our experience and clearly cared about customer satisfaction, the food and lack of flexibility from the kitchen were disappointing. The spice levels were excessive and lacked balance, making the dish inedible for us.
This is a 4-star experience solely because of the exceptional service. The kitchen, however, would receive 0 stars.“
