“One of the best dining experiences EVER and, I would describe myself as a consummate and organize my travels so I can meet some of the world’s great chefs and eat their grub. This little place in little unknown out-of-the way cities is extraordinary and, I believe will help make Halifax a foodie destination.“
“Had a great experience at Obladee last evening. Had a few glasses of wine with some excellent recommendations from the server. Had a small charcuterie board which was a nice starter. Moved on to a few more small plates and a main. Really tasty especially the tuna, wow. Overall enjoyed the helpful suggestions from the staff, cozy atmosphere, tasty food and of course the wines. Thanks for a lovely evening out can't wait to go back!!“
“2 Doors Down has consistently great food and service. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown, it is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Today I got the Quinoa Salad with chicken and it did not disappoint. It was full of vegetables: chickpeas, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet potato, pumpkin seeds. Our server was very friendly, accommodating of food allergies and provided great service. Definitely recommend.“
“Thank you all so much for making my moms 50th birthday so special! It was our first time there and it definitely will not be our last. The location is beautiful, inside and out - especially the outdoor seating. The staff was so sweet, and so attentive they really made us feel so taken care of and quite frankly spoiled. The food was absolutely to die for, don’t even get me started on the chicken breast parmigiana. I’ll be dreaming of it until next time.“
“Ordered the butternut squash gnocchi and it was delicious! The portions are smaller for the price/cost but for what youre getting is a thoughtful take which reminded me of an italian dish, asian fusion flavours kick. Which i have not had a lot of until now. The gnocchi with the almost curry-like creamy sweet savoury sauce with the butternut squash gnocci paired so well with the stracciatella cheese with Seasame seeds. The harmony of the two was well composed. I also heard great things about the baos, trout and beef tar tar (also having a nice asian touch to it). What was more impressive was the kitchen/cooks were cooking for everyone in a very small section in the front beside the bar, using a electric stove top to prepare the food they did. As a cook myself, i really find this impressive for the quality and quantity they are serving at. Of course, keep in mind the food from kitchen to table, but trust me it’s worth the wait!Would definitely come back, but next time would love a seat by the kitchen/bar area to observe cooking processes.Compliments to the chefs ?“
“Dining at the Hop Scotch Dinner Club, I was blown away by one dish in particular. The scallops were just divine, seared to a perfect crisp on the outside while remaining incredibly tender and juicy on the inside. It's rare to find that balance executed so flawlessly. Then there was the 'nduja sauce and red lentils – oh, what a pairing! The sauce added just the right kick, and the lentils brought a comforting earthiness that grounded the dish. And those fermented carrots? Their sharpness and the skill in their preparation were nothing short of impressive. The dish was also a treat for the eyes, adorned with calendula petals and a drizzle of their oil, adding a splash of color and a hint of elegance. It was an unforgettable experience, a beautiful blend of flavors, textures, and visual appeal, all thanks to the creativity and skill of the chefs at Hop Scotch Dinner Club.“
“Amazing dinner with great friends. Very friendly greeting when we arrived super early. We ordered the chefs 6 course menu and several a la carte options to share everything. Our Amazing server Maddy helped us time the courses so we could enjoy everything without being overwhelmed with too many dishes at a time. The meatballs were definitely a favourite (we ordered a second plate) and the arancini & lobster special was delicious. The pork chop was also really yummy. Thank you for a lovely evening. Can't wait to come back!“
“went for dinner with my fiance on Sunday June 11th. I believe our servers name was Jess. taller, blonde. she was fantastic. checked in at appropriate intervals and very friendly. the thing that really impressed us was how all the servers on the patio cleared our dishes as they walked by and asked how everything was and if we needed anything. it felt like ever server was our personal server. what a team. I have never seen that in my life. food was great. highly recommend.“
“It has been years since we visited Bitter End, so we went in for drinks while waiting to go to the theatre. Service was good, but our server must have been new, because she did not know much about the menu and had to go check on a number of items. I recall this place as being an elegant place to eat, but it is looking a bit run down now. However, we enjoyed our visit and the location is excellent.“
“If you would like an amazing culinary experience then you should definitely try the Barrington Steakhouse! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The staff were absolutely incredible. The host, the server, the bartender were all so great and made our dinning experience unforgettable. The food though, was definitely where the term “chef’s kiss” must have originated from. It was quite evident, that the chef takes pride in all of the dishes. The Beef Wellington well exceeded my expectations. Definitely 5 star rating!“
“This is by far one of my favourite restaurants in all of Halifax! It is easily the best place, in my opinion, to enjoy amazing drinks, perfectly prepared meals and a yummy dessert. The menu changes regularly ,Id say every 3-6 months, which keeps things fresh, original and exciting. The staff is second to none. From the moment you enter to the time you leave, you will feel right at home. I love the connection that the staff makes with their customers... Down to the head chef, Chef Chris, who is super social and never denies guests the opportunity to compliment his amazing cuisine pairings. The restaurant is location in the heart of Downtown Halifax, which means parking can be a bit challenging on busy days, but there are tons of paid parking options and quite a bit of roadside parking spaces available. The area is nice for exploring, especially during the summertime and a quick walk to the Waterfront for those looking for something to do after the meal. The pricing is mid range with many affordable options. It will typically run each guest somewhere between $60-70 on average for 2 drinks, an entree, and dessert. This place also has some of the BEST oysters you will encounter in Nova Scotia! On the down side, it is not very kid friendly as the set up is more geared toward adults, but I guess for some that could be a plus lol.If you happen to visit, be sure to try the oysters, their world famous Mac & cheese with the lobster or salmon add-on and the Lot Six Burger; the BRUNCH IS ALSOOOOOO 10/10 (I literally would recommend any and everything on that menu)!!!“
“Got a few things I haven't tried in a while. Steak tartare is more or less like many places, mild flavour, doesn't stand out. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Has a sweet fruity butter sauce. But sweet for me, but I think most people will like it. Duck confit risotto was the best one for me. Fall off the bone duck mixes into perfectly cooked risotto with a strong red wine flavor. Plus good portion size. Bonus that they serve non-alcoholic beer!“
