“Great range of beers including collabs, sours etc plus Nova Scotia wines too. Emily was a superb host, good knowledge of their products. We were visiting for a day on a cruise and definitely worth the walk from the port, if you make it to the citadel you’re as good as there anyway.“
“Best brewery in Nova Scotia. My cousin and I are a bit of beer snobs and have been to countless places throughout Canada between the two of us. We both agree these guys know beer, they don't mess around. When they make a beer they make it right, and seem to always be coming up with something different. When you have tried as many beers as we have it can be a challenge to find something refreshing and new, something that's not just good but is exciting. Something that makes you go wow I've not had something like this before, and you do just that.My only feedback would be to dabble in sours a bit more, I never seem to find much if any in the class from you folks. Still not a problem I'd just be interested in your take on one.Cheers and keep up the amazing work!“
“This is our local taproom. I just love this place. Great bunch of people...staff and patrons. A great place to relax and enjoy some good conversation. The beer is the best in Halifax if you're into craft beer. Always a great selection and the beers rotate frequently so you never get tired of drinking the same thing....unless of course you want to. They have some specialty snacks to enjoy with your favorites beer too. They do not serve food, but you're welcome to bring in whatever your heart desires, in to eat. Jesse's Pizza and CHKN CHOP are just steps away.A couple of my favorite beers are 12 Years to Zion, DOA and Flat Black Jesus. I'm sure you'll have your own favorites.“
“This is my favorite place in the city, my crippling pinball addiction may have something to do with this. They also have very tasty beverages on hand, super helpful and pleasant staff. Their pins are meticulously maintained along with the contemporary and classic arcade games they keep. Sunday and Tuesday are free play days at $10 flat. Awesome deal. Spend your time and money here.“
“One of the first small breweries to hit the scene in NS! Great location down near the waterfront, an excellent selection of beers, huge space and shop, friendly staff! And the beer is pretty incredible too! Glad I got a chance to stop in while visiting Halifax this summer, can't wait to get back!“
“Oland is one of the oldest brewery's around, they opened their first brewery in Dartmouth in 1867. They have come along way, now owned by Labatt, have expanded to over 13 labels. Olands and Keith's were the two I remember as favorites. I am sure out of 13 to choose from, you can find one to like.“
“First of all there was no place to properly park my bike as there was an unfiltered vehicle blocking the bike lane, and secondly the beers have a very high ABV and I don't feel I can drive home without running into some nearby bushes ( that's a matter I will take up with the city of Halifax later). While rapidly quaffing down some Exile I asked the bartender to play some Hank Williams which she refused to do, talk about a surly employee, I suggest they develop some HR component. Upon leaving I threw three $20 on the bar in I must admit extremely supercilious manner, the bill was $60.05 and staggered out the door, bringing to mind the adage that he who laughs last laughs hardest haaha!“
“We were in town on business when my friend surprised me with a tour and kitchen party at Alexander Keith's. I am not a beer drinker, but I have to say, this was a fabulous tour. The building is amazing, the tour guide was lovely, we made friends with our entire group and had a blast at the kitchen party. I cannot remember the beer that had the coffee infusion-it was a dark ale, anyways, it was superb. I am sad that they do not sell this particular beer in Ontario. I look forward to returning one day when we visit Halifax again.“
“Charming hipster like restaurant. The food selection was great, with plenty of options for anyone. The atmosphere was also very cozy in a smallish venue. Our waiter was also very good. The only con really was a few of the guests felt there was a bit of a lack of drink options, who aren't interested in custom local breweries. I would be interested in going back again.“
