“The Alexander Keith's Brewery Tour in Halifax was an incredible experience from start to finish!

It was so fascinating learning all about the man behind the legendary bred, born in Scotland in 1795, Alexander Keith immigrated to Halifax, served as Mayor three times, and purchased the brewery back in 1820.

Beyond the rich history, we got an awesome inside look at the brewing ingredients and the entire production process before heading into the historic pub for a sampling session. You get to try four full samples, and I really appreciated that they offer a discounted rate for non-drinkers alongside great non-alcoholic options!

Here was our tasting lineup:
- India Pale Ale: Classic, bold, and smooth.
- Red Amber Ale: Well-balanced with a fantastic malt profile.
- Cherry Lime Gose: Tart, super refreshing, and full of flavor.
- Premium White Ale: Crisp, light, and easy-drinking.

Pro tip: You definitely need to make reservations online in advance, as tours book up quickly!

Between the vibrant historical storytelling, the incredible atmosphere, and the great drinks, this is an absolute must-do experience when visiting Halifax! Cheers!“

“I'm sitting at the bar in the Garrison Brewery as I write this, and it's a quintessential brewery experience. There's a huge variety of beers on tap available in pints and flights, and everything I've tasted in my flights has been fantastic. The Mango Dragonfruit sour in particular is exceptional.

There's great merch, plenty of space and plenty of atmosphere. It's making for a great Sunday afternoon and a great example of the craft beer scene in Halifax. If I wasn't alone, I would definitely be getting into the Barrel End flight board - 13 x 4oz pours, mounted onto the cap of a classic wooden beer barrel. Can't beat that!“

“I tasted my first Exile on North Street at the Library Pub in Wolfville yesterday! Wow! It knocked me off my chair with lip smacking flavours! My wife who’s not a big IPA drinker lapped it up and we both look forward to picking some up at Unfiltered Brewing and tasting it and all their offerings real soon! Congratulations for creating liquid masterpieces!

“This is our local taproom. I just love this place. Great bunch of people...staff and patrons. A great place to relax and enjoy some good conversation. The beer is the best in Halifax if you're into craft beer. Always a great selection and the beers rotate frequently so you never get tired of drinking the same thing....unless of course you want to. They have some specialty snacks to enjoy with your favorites beer too. They do not serve food, but you're welcome to bring in whatever your heart desires, in to eat. Jesse's Pizza and CHKN CHOP are just steps away.A couple of my favorite beers are 12 Years to Zion, DOA and Flat Black Jesus. I'm sure you'll have your own favorites.“
