The Narrows Public House Reviews
Yesterday we had the privilege of eating at The Narrows Halofax, Nova Scotia's #1 Public House and number #12 in Canada. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere and personable host made us feel like we were home! All of the waitresses were incredible and ours went over and above to make us happy and we truly had the best time. The food was to die for, they have a fantastic menu with a bit of everything on it. 100% highly recommend we will be back 🥰
Love at First Sight and Love at First Bite! If you are seeking traditional comfort classics with a culinary twist- this is your next destination! The atmosphere is like no other in Halifax, the servers are attentive and tuned in. Our food was delicious with flavour and texture exceeding my expectations for such reasonable prices. While we had a bit of a wait in the cozy entry, we were well taken care of. It was all worth it! When you see Balogna on the menu- don’t roll your...read full review
Great ambiance. Love all the antique items around the dining area. I had fish and chips today and it didn't disappoint. Staff also great.
Only criticism is that the background music was Kentucky Bluegrass. Seems out of place and should be Maritime music..

The Narrows Public House, located in Halifax, offers a delightful dining experience in a renovated Victorian home. The restaurant features a cozy atmosphere with gentle fires, pleasant staff, and colonial charm, although it can get quite busy. The menu includes popular items like the Bologna sandwich and Hot Chicken, alongside standout dishes such as the fried clams, which many describe as absolutely scrumptious and the best in Atlantic Canada. Guests have also praised the fried taters for being extremely tasty and interesting, as well as the halibut in the Dutch Mess, which is cooked to perfection with a light cream sauce that complements the fish and greens well.
The mustard pickles continue to be highly recommended, especially when paired with brown sugar bread. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with excellent service and a cozy fireplace. Options like trivia and card games enhance the experience, making it a great place for a memorable meal or a nice outing. Although there can be a wait without reservations, it is well worth it to explore more of the menu. The restaurant's tasteful furnishings and local house setting create a beautiful environment, and it has become a must-visit spot when coming to Halifax.
