Hinoki Sushi in Reno is highly regarded for its exceptional quality and consistent execution. The restaurant offers a neatly arranged and visually appealing selection of sushi, with each piece crafted with confidence and precision. The menu features a variety of creative and traditional rolls, with the Burning Man Roll being a standout choice. This roll combines Cajun-spiced salmon, spicy tuna, crab, avocado, and green onion, delivering bold and layered flavors that showcase the restaurant’s willingness to serve spicy dishes with conviction.
The eel at Hinoki Sushi is particularly praised for its richness, buttery texture, and perfect glaze, evoking a nostalgic feel reminiscent of classic Japanese sushi restaurants. The fish remains the star of each dish, with sauces serving as complements rather than overpowering elements. The rice is well-balanced, and every bite feels intentional, highlighting the high quality of ingredients used.
Hinoki Sushi also excels as an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) spot, offering fresh seafood, especially the raw fish which is consistently described as not fishy and of good quality. The menu features nigiri such as salmon, roe, and unagi, along with vegetable rolls that are surprisingly good. The atmosphere is relaxing, and service is fast, friendly, and attentive, contributing to a positive dining experience.
Many reviewers mention returning repeatedly, appreciating the fair pricing, especially during lunch hours. The restaurant has undergone improvements, with updated menus and better service, making it a favorite among locals. Overall, Hinoki Sushi is celebrated for its fresh fish, creative offerings, reliable quality, and welcoming environment, making it one of Reno’s top sushi destinations.
