A hidden gem!!!! I finally made it to Fairy last Friday after reading many reviews and personal recommendations and now I'm just a peeved at myself for waiting this long. I love spicy foods so discovering an authentic Sichuan restaurant within close vicinity makes me so happy. The space itself is located on a block of downtown Albany that happily reminds me of my time in NYC. Excellent food. Sichuan specialties I have not seen anywhere else in the region. If you have not tried before, this is a great place to start because the staff are happy to describe dishes and help make selections. The Cumin Lamb and Spicy Cucumber and Woods Ear salad were our favorite of the dishes we tried.

We went to this place twice on the same weekend, definitely worth a visit. Boiled Fish is really good, and other classic sichuan dishes are delicious. The second time we went, we decided to order some different dishes (not strictly sichuan ones). Cabbage with vermicelli has quite a lot of vinegar, which I love, but may not be everyone's favorite if you are not into sour food.
