While another reviewer unfairly blasted Primrose for their location, those of us working nearby find this to be an excellent little cafe to grab a coffee and chat with very friendly staff. Their lattes and prices beat the pants off nearby Stacks, where you pay to finance their bougie Brooklyn ambiance and pretend it's good coffee :)
My husband made reservations a couple months in advance. Told them ot was for our anniversary, we were greeted with a congratulations and card at our table. Our food and service was fabulous. The fried calamari was light and perfectly prepared. Tori was attentive and helpful. And we even received a celebration toast of champagne and amuse bouche. We opted for the chocolate cake which is amazingly rich and not overly sweet. In a word Fantastic.

Primrose is the - and I do mean the, most secluded - tiny cafe in Albany. It is not even near the main attractions. Or on Lark Street. It is a one-bar affair with a few cushion seats and a coffee table in the middle of the room. The bar is standing room. It serves canapés, sandwiches, coffee, tea and I think salads (I'm a rugged man, I don't do salmon salad). As the other review says, it's small. But, I find it whimsical.
