Johnny's Reef Reviews
I've been visiting Johnny's for over 30+years. Today I went for a lobster roll which replaced the shrimp roll. last year this lobster was so delicious 😋 couldn't wait till the summer. unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. it is not longer on a garlic bun and now served on a plain hot dog bun :( also flavorless! last yr price was $24 and now up to $28 with no flavor and blah bun. please bring back the recipe from years before. thanks
Great seafood!!! We love the Manhattan Clam Chowder!
Food is always delicious 😋

Johnny's Reef is a family-friendly spot on City Island with a fun and scenic ambiance. Known for its fresh seafood, this place has been a favorite for over 50 years. The prices are decent, and the food is good, with options like fried fish, steamed fish, pasta, and more. Many visitors enjoy their fried seafood and fries, finding the fried food especially delicious. The fried lobster tail has become a favorite, and dishes like baked stuffed clams are popular choices. The restaurant is very kid-friendly, offering boniculars and a small grab claw machine, making it suitable for families who enjoy eating together and sightseeing from City Island into the bay. Located right on the coast, Johnny's Reef provides a simple, enjoyable atmosphere, with strong, reasonably priced drinks. Parking can be tough, and it is cash only, but people keep returning for a casual, tasty seafood meal with options for everyone. The restaurant also has a ramp for wheelchair accessibility. Visitors appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere and good fried food, especially scallops, clams, and shrimp. The place is perfect for a quick bite, and outside, diners should watch out for seagulls eager for leftovers.
