Bar Bête Reviews
Really good flavors! The tuna toast and leek salad were highlights. Also had the bottled pilsner which was great. Love the space and service as well.
Two notes: 1. I felt the “light” cocktail was a bit too watered down 2. The lamb dish is super flavorful but steep at $50 given portion size
By far my most visited and favorite restaurant in New York. I've been here at least a dozen times over the years for celebratory dinners and quick bar meals, and every time I'm impressed. From the service to the atmosphere and the amazing food, you can't go wrong. Duck fat potatoes and tuna toast should always be on your table, and rotate in whatever else sounds good that day. Big shoutout to Ryan the bartender and Sara the host for their excellent service, but everyone there...read full review
Basically writing this review exclusively for the black bass on toast. One of the most insanely delicious and beautiful dishes that I have had.

Bar Bête is a small restaurant that offers a variety of dishes, including tuna toast, duck fat potatoes, scallop crudo, and ricotta gnudi. The tuna toast is especially praised for its lightness and flavor, and the chicken liver parfait and steak are considered must-try items. The duck and the wine are also highly recommended, especially the Provençal red that many guests enjoyed. Some dishes, like the ricotta and wagyu steak, were found to be flat or over salted by a few guests, and the leeks and chittara dishes were particularly noted for being too salty. The scallops were delicious, but the portion size was small. The restaurant has a cozy, European wine bar feel, with friendly staff who provide excellent service and help guests choose wines, often natural varieties. The ambiance is nice and suitable for dates or gatherings with friends, although some guests noted that the noise level can be loud, making conversation difficult. The chocolate cake with chocolate frosting remains a favorite and is considered one of the best baked goods. Overall, Bar Bête offers refined yet casual dining with shareable dishes and simple desserts, making it a neighborhood gem worth multiple visits.
