About Cholula Deli & Grill

Cholula Deli & Grill is a charming spot in Brooklyn that offers an authentic taste of Mexican street cuisine. Despite its modest setting and cash-only policy, the restaurant impresses with its deep flavors and quality dishes. The tacos are served in traditional double corn tortillas, featuring tender meats like al pastor, carnitas, and carne enchilada, each showcasing unique regional techniques and spices. The al pastor captures a smoky-sweet balance, while the carnitas are slow-cooked to perfection.

The chorizo quesadilla stands out with its rich filling of melted cheese and house-seasoned Mexican chorizo, complemented by the chorizo tostada that layers the sausage over a crispy corn tortilla. Fresh garnishes like radish slices, cucumber, and grilled scallions enhance the meal, embodying traditional Mexican dining.

Beverages like horchata provide a sweet, creamy finish, although some may find it a bit overpowering with the spice-forward dishes. The service is friendly and attentive, with staff offering sauces and thoughtful touches like candy and notes. While the seating area can get crowded and could benefit from better ventilation, Cholula Deli & Grill remains a must-visit for anyone seeking a genuine experience of Mexican flavors in a welcoming atmosphere.

Cholula Deli & Grill may be modest in setting and cash-only, but the food it serves is a testament to the depth and history of Mexican street cuisine. Each dish revealed not just bold flavor, but also the centuries old traditions that shape Mexican cooking.

The tacos came in the classic Mexican style double corn tortillas, tender meat, onion, and cilantro. The al pastor, one of Mexico’s most celebrated taco styles, carries an immigrant story: Lebanese shawarma techniques...read full review

Little hole in the wall with amazing food and great service. This is my go-to spot when I need a comforting meal and a nice cup of hot chocolate.
