We stopped in for a late lunch. We haven't been here in over 20 years and we won't be back anytime soon. The food was average, but the prices were astronomical! 2 roast beef on kimmelwick, 2 sides of fries, 2 colas and a side of gravy came to $56 before tax. After tax and tip almost $70 for lunch.I could have went out for a steak dinner for those prices. The roast beef portion on the sandwich was on the smaller side compared to other places and definitely for the $17 price tag per sandwich. The fries were frozen crinkle fries, the portion was decent but again not for almost $7 a serving. There are other places to get a quality roast beef sandwich that won't break the bank.

Traveling for business. As a former Buffalo resident, look forward to beef on wek whenever I am in town. Timing was on my side since I was there for St Patrick's day and had my first Tom & Jerry. Great waiter, great food, great drink.

I have been eating here for 20 years. Since the ownership change the roast beef is tough and I watch people at my table having trouble biting through the beef. This has happened with three guests in two separate parties. They used to slice the beef at the bar in full sight. Not sure why that changed. I don't think this is the best place for roast beef any longer. Sad changes in what was a landmark eatery.

Extremely overpriced for below average food. 75$ for 2 people No alchohol ordered, no desert. The problem is not with the atmosphere or service. The servers were very nice and attentive. The biggest problem.I ordered their specialty, the roast beef sandwich. I gave them 2 stars to be nice. Maybe the regular cooks were off that night, but I would rather have eaten microwaved roast beef from Walmart on a sandwich. Not exaggerating! I've had much better beef on weck from many other restaurants that don't feature it, and at 1/2 the price. The other order was a cold sandwich at 20$. Add one appetizer and 2 nonalcoholic drinks 75$. Cold ham sandwich and app was ok.I remember going years ago and it was a good restaurant. It's just running on its old reputation now.Walking distance from families house, so would have been nice to have a go-to local spot. Will not be back.

Whenever I’m in the Buffalo area, a great Beef on Weck is always on my mind. Schwab’s is always on the top of the list. But it’s not just the beef on weck, it’s the great sides also, served in a fabulous atmosphere. The staff takes their jobs seriously to ensure a lunch or dinner experiance you will return for. I’ve introduced a number of coworkers to this place and I believe all of truly enjoyed it.

Get ready to be nickel and dimed for the stupidest things…2 waters, mozzarella sticks, 2 fish fries and one pop=$75A four dollar up charge for German potato salad – not even a half a cup of it - instead of the crinkle cut fries that comes with your fish fry is insane. The waiter asked what I wanted as a side for my fish fry and gave me three options, sweet potato fries, which she told me there was an up charge for, German potato salad, which she did not say had upcharge and the fries. I opted for the potato salad unaware of the charge.Wait staff ALWAYS makes customers aware of up charges and it should be written on the menu prior to side dish swap. They also charge 3.99 for a pop with no refills. The glass was filled 3/4 up with ice in a 6 ounce skinny glass is what you’ll get. When we were greeted by the waitress, we were asked what we wanted to drink. I wasn’t sure if I wanted an alcoholic beverage or a pop so I asked for just a water in the meantime while I was reviewing options. Never were we told that we were going to be given a bottle of water that was a charge of $1 so after she left to get the waters and I had time to review and open the menu i saw that it was written in there and I declined to purchase any further drinks and just sit with my one dollar bottle of water. Tap water I guess is bleeding them dry. lolThe German potato salad that I swapped my fries sustained a $4 upcharge- was overly seasoned and sour / subpar. The fish fry was overly crispy and smaller than any other local establishment in area. The fish fry came with a side of coleslaw too which was good. When everywhere else you will go you will get a Mac salad, potato salad, coleslaw, bread and a fish larger than your plate this place doesn’t. I will never dine here again. Make your customers aware of your abnormal up charging and policies. We also ordered mozzarella sticks because there is no kid menu- well that is $11 for 5/6 small sticks.Nickel and dime guests all you want but make sure they are aware of these up charges. The wait staff should be telling you every time you’re up-charged for things that normally come with the meals or swaps and are standard at all other restaurants in Buffalo. If you’re going to ask me for a drink prior to me even opening my menu make sure I’m aware that this water is not going to be tap and you’re going to charge me for it because nowhere in Buffalo do they actually charge for water at dinner unless it’s high class and this place is not that.

Went there Friday, March 15 for a fish fry. Very small piece of fish. They charged you a dollar for water which unknown to us was in a plastic bottle. The fish fry was $18.99. The waitress told us which sides we could pick from when we ordered the fish fry. She failed to tell my daughter who ordered German potato salad that it would be four dollars more so her fish fry was $22.99. Other than the fish and potatoes we have a little container of coleslaw and two slices of rye bread each. Needless to say we will not be going back there.

I ate here once several years ago and was not impressed with the roast beef. Due to the good reviews I tried again 2 weeks ago. Same opinion. The beef was dry and a little chewy, and the roll was dry and flavorless. I had mashed potatoes and they were tasty. For 2 sandwiches with 1 side each and 3 small glasses of pop the bill came to $72.00. Will never eat there again. Connor’s and Mandy’s have it all over Schwabl’s!

The beef is amazing. The service and prices are brutal, though. Stop with the pretension and realize you’re in West Seneca, not NYC. You can do better. Will you, though?Parking: Good luck on a Friday night.

Beef is not as good as it used to be. Portions are smaller, nothing was served hot, prices are asinine. $27 for a beef on weck is why the restaurant was empty.

Quite possibly the best roast beef in Western New York, bar none. The service is incredible and schwabl's has been an institution in the West Seneca, and the entire Western New York area for many years and for good reason.Cocktails are expertly handcrafted and the wait staff (in our case Karen) is top-notch; attentive without being obtrusive.Prices are a little on the high side, so beware, and some items cannot be delivered or for take out.Highly recommend the hot beef sandwich with the house gravy. Sublime!Parking: Parking out back.

Our server, Ashley was wonderful and so friendly. We got 3 beef on weck and couldn't chew it. It was sooo tough. I would probably not go back again because I don't know if this is the same quality of all their food.
