“I really appreciated the helpful and knowledgeable staff. They have an onsite halal Butcher. Wonderful selection of fresh products as well as dry goods. Huge frozen section with samosas and Veg. Very clean and organized. They have everything from sweets, chaat(snacks), and main. If you are vegetarian or vegan They also have a ton of options for you as well. They carry proper English as well as Asian varieties of tea. They also have fresh Afghani bread delivered on Thursdays as well as delicious fresh samosas. The biggest thing I was thrilled about was the huge bags of dry lentils. We love lentil soup, its a game changer at $6.00 for a huge bag!! Watch my walk through video for a glimpse of the goodness.“
“First time trying Indian cuisine. I was surprised how good the food was in the lunch brunch. I had the salad with yogurt dressing, very nice and refreshing. I read all of the menu signs and went for the least spicy, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, pakoras, of course rice. I tried the curry and chickpeas medley-it was very good but was too spicy for my palate. Meal came with a beverage at no cost, which was nice. Very nice restaurant with an older gentleman who led you to your table. Very nice, recommend you try.“
“Went here for Saratoga restaurant week. It fills a current gap in the area which is Chaat and slightly faster Indian Cuisine. It doesn't even have to compete in the same type of foods as its neighbor across Clifton County Road, and our food horizons are all the more welcome for it. Ordered a paneer bowl and side of Naan. Plenty of food, lots of sauce, delicious. Tried some of my friends Masala Fries, they're not for me but I can see them meeting a need. Naan side is only half a naan or two quarter pieces, so just know that when you order.“
“This restaurant is so good. Far and away the best Indian food in Clifton park. Authentically spicy! We have been ordering delivery via grubhub every month for a year now and yesterday was our first time dining in. The delivery does not do the food justice at all!! The naan was cooked perfectly, the biryani was so flavorful with perfect acidity and tender gigantic pieces of chicken. Great food and I hope more people get to try it!“
“I got the lamb kebab wrap with everything on it. I couldn't recommend it more! The lamb was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, and the pita had the right amount of meat and fillings in it (and it didn't fall apart while I ate it).“
“I was CRAVING chicken Kashmiri bad tonight but my husband is not a big fan of the spice in traditional Indian food. As a compromise, we settled on Galleria 7 in Latham, a multi-ethnic food market with excellent vendors, including @Shalimar express.I called around 5 to ask if Shalimar express makes chicken Kashmiri. The nice man answered, told me no and respectfully hung up the call. Within five minutes, the owner, Leo, called me back to tell me that although they do not have chicken Kashmiri as a menu item, they were able to make a modified version and call is chili chicken. We arrived around 615 and Leo greeted us with a smile and a “it was you!!!” He proceeded to explain how he would custom make a dish for me and would make it suitable for my dietary needs. He really didn’t not have to but this man went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. We received the food within 15 minutes and it was DELICIOUS. The chicken was soft and tender, the garlic naan was flavorful and the veggies were absolute perfection. My husband had the Curry chicken and loved every bite. Leo even came and spoke to us about his history, his family and his love for serving his friends. We never post on this page but Leo made this experience such a memorable one. He went far beyond great customer service and truly the food was Amazing. If you are ever in all Latham, give them a try.“
“Best zinger burger in all New york, especially knew this when I went back to back The quality is hand slaughtered meat cooked hand bred style I have tried other meat and they aren't so juicy and tender inside while keeping its crispness“
“Awesome food. I had a little trouble finding the place as it was in a nearby town in a food court. Once found, thr food was delicious. Some of the best samosas I've had and I asked for the chicken tikka masala spicy amd it was perfect. The owner was the first one on the area to open the other Shalimar Indian restaurants in the area and he told me he had sold them all and opened this place. I was telling him that the quality had gone down at the other places and this place was better. Next time if I'm not so hungry I would get take out. I only wish that this place was closer and that I had a little more tikka sauce bc it was that good!!“
“Love this place. Don't be deceived by the location as it's tucked away off state street in Schenectady. It's attached to a store and there are no seats, it's mainly take out. The prices are completely reasonable, if not cheap. I ordered a whole tandoori chicken, vegetable curry, sweet naan, two samosas and dessert all for about $48. The chicken was tender and the naan tasted warm right out of the oven! The sauce on the curry was thick and not watery. Good size portions. I recommend highly as my only other Indian I lean toward is Karavalli in Latham and Karavalli in Saratoga.“
“This was a great experience. We are from Kenya and we're visiting Schenectady for keisure.finding this spot was heaven sent. The food was amazing, awesome and well cooked.service and cleanliness was top notch and our server Karim was very friendly and welcoming.would highly recommend.Kid-friendliness: My 10 month old had a feeding chair.so necessary“
“Whoah what a hidden gem. My bf wanted to try this place and it did not disappoint. We ordered the duck curry and Chicken Tikka..delish! We watched him make the naan as we were waiting for our order. There is no sit down dining so call ahead for takeout as we waited quite a while. We were behind a gentlemen who said he travels 20 miles regularly for this place so that speaks volumes.“
“This is one of the best authentic Pakistani restaurants in town, brought my picky Punjabi parents here and they loved it. Their channa and naan are awesome, also love their daal, chicken karahi, and seekh kabobs.Bonus: if you can read Urdu/Punjabi their interior wall art is hilarious!!Vegetarian options: Daal, Channa, saag, mixed veg, naans“
“I love the food here, and the people at TanDoori House are fantastic. As a vegetarian, I love having so many options on the menu to choose from, and whether you do pickup or delivery, it’s always delicious. Their chana masala is top tier, and so are their saag paneer and vegetable samosas. For dessert, definitely go for the rice pudding. I’ve ordered here several times and it never disappoints!“
“Wherever I go to a new city, I love to try the Indian food. Albany, this is a gem! I have never had better Indian food anywhere in the country. The complexities of flavors and textures and temperatures that make Indian food spectacular are all here. I had a sweet lassi, vegetable samosas, naan and Navratan Korma. Flawless.“
“Was headed down to Latham Sunday to hit some shops we don't have here in southern Vermont and my husband joked, as I was leaving, "so we're having Indian for dinner?" I hadn't even thought of it (usually it's just when I am coming home from the airport). I ordered through yelp/grubhub as I was finishing my shopping and then headed over. I'd never tried Karavalli but it came highly recommended from a friend and she was right: it's awesome. As far as the takeout experience using yelp, it was easy to order and add a note (I always get takeout without napkins and whatnot to eliminate waste), ready right at the earliest moment it could be and REALLY well-packed. When I entered the space, which is very nice, I was greeted by a friendly host and then by the bartender who grabbed my order for me. The food was delicious and still hot when I got back home (about a 50-minute drive). The saag paneer is insanely fresh and had a nice amount of fresh ginger -- yummmmm. The chicken tikka masala was decadent and while I think it could have had a bit more chicken, it was delicious. We got the plain naan and it was chewy with a little crispness. You can order an 8 oz side of tamarind chutney. I did and have been putting it on literally everything. I will DEFINITELY make Karavalli a regular stop when making my trips to Latham for ulta/homegoods/michaels/target runs. I'd also like to try their Sunday brunch and to eat in the restaurant at some point!“
“I can't forget that Peshewari Naan and Bombay Aloo. Two awesome items with perfect balance of spice. They asked us the spice level we would prefer. This is something indian restaurants usually do not ask. Loved that part. Two other items were onion naan (was good) but the Mughlai chicken, something was off about it. It could be the balance of sweet or the salt was not right. I felt like I am eating a thik gravy. I believe the tea was over brewed and to balance it more milk was poured in. That's just an opinion as I know taste of tea is very subjective. Besides all of this the portion of one order was good for two. I think they are underrated by themselves. I would recommend them to change the whole seating arrangement. Also, update your restaurant name to Ahmed Restaurant. It was hard to find it.Spend $36 for two. (1. Mughlai Chicken came with choice of rice/Naan, Aloo Naan came with Rice/Naan)“
“Amazing delicious food.So many great spices and flavors. Restaurant and cooks need more credit definitely. They’re so kind here and if you ordered something you have an allergy to in the dish they will let you know, even call you back.Dietary restrictions: Let them know and they will accommodate! So great“
“Authentically Indian except for the prices, but hey, they gotta pay the rent. Went in and asked for a dish that wasn’t on the menu (Dal Makhani) but which I’ve enjoyed in Bangladesh. I was very impressed that they not only knew what I was after, but agreed to fix it for me. This place is clean, welcoming, tasty and authentic midasian comfort food.“
“I like the fact that there is open buffet between the hours of 11am-2pm. It's nice to go and grab some lunch while there's the option to get a quick buffet. The location offers a great parking spot as well as the option to take what you need to go. The cost for it is $16. The restaurant is close to Latham and is a not too far a drive away. If you're looking to get some Indian food in the local area stop by here in Latham to grab a bite to eat.“
“Absolutely delicious. Specially if you're Bangladeshi, this restaurant will HIT THE SPOT. OK it's not 100% Bangladeshi but this is as close as you'll get in Upstate NY. I got the mutton biryani and kala bhuna and although it can't match the stuff you get in Bangladesh this is definitely a worthy effort. Great chef THANK YOU!! Can't wait to try the rest of the food!!Other than the restaurant/menu items, it is an awesome grocery store as well, great selection of variety of rice (especially if you're looking for chinigura, kalijeera, basmati, mohonbhog, kataribhog etc. rice) and spices.“
“So wonderful. We’re still talking about it a day later. This restaurant had us at tamarind with eggplant and chickpeas. Also cheers for the chili chickpea Bahjia. Other items kept our smiles going. Pleasant service. It is the only place we would go if we were in the area again. Can you hear our applause to the chef and cooks?!“
