“We came in on a Sunday about 8:40, well before the listed 9:30 closing time, and were warned as we came in that they actually close at 9:20. It seemed odd that it would be an issue with plenty of time to order; but apparently unlike most restaurants the closing time is a matter of when they expect you to actually leave.

Still, with seemingly enough time, we ordered, and the appetizer - soft shell crab - came quickly. Unfortunately, though it was not one of the dishes listed as “spicy”, it came with spicy mayo on top. I told the server that I can’t eat spicy food, would not have ordered it if I had known, and asked her to take it back. She gave me an argument, saying I should have told her I can’t eat spicy food. I pointed out that since they list some dishes specifically as spicy, one would assume - as in most other restaurants - that the rest are not. She reluctantly took it back, and informed us the Angel Roll we had ordered, also not labeled spicy, came with spicy mayo on top as well, so we also asked for that to be redone.

This pushed things closer to closing time, and rushed our meal a bit. But I have to say that the food was wonderful: The crab crisp outside, moist inside; the sushi fresh, and the pineapple shrimp fried rice delicious.

So despite the unfortunate attitude we encountered, this restaurant is well worth the trip for the excellent food. Just keep in mind that the closing time is not what’s listed on the website. And that it’s best, whatever the menu says, to ask details before ordering.“

While enjoying your appetizer and warm sake, the wait staff piles down your entree …. Decor cosmopolitan, they spent a lot of money on the chairs but now the faux leather vinyl is sagging, peeling and it’s hard to find a comfortable seat. “This spot is a neighborhood GEM. I hope the people living here know this. Best Sushi and sashimi for miles around. Solid everytime. The fish is kept well and served well. The whole family works here and they are so nice and friendly. The dad who is the sushi chef has one of the fastest hands around. He just cranks the orders out like butter. - Stir-Fried Udon: Good wok char on thick noodles that stayed bouncy.
- Chicken with Broccoli: Tender chicken and crisp broccoli in a clean, savory garlic glaze.

- Yeoungchow Fried Rice: Fluffy and light, acting as a great base for the spicy mains.

“I'd recommend this place ... sort of. We chose to sit on the dining side since it was only two of us and didn't want the "show". The service was friendly and good but not overly attentive. Our drinks were very good and a fair price (we had the Oceanside Zombie but without the Sprite added). We both ordered the hibachi surf and turf (lobster and filet mignon) which came with a house salad and clear soup, both of which we really enjoyed. The filet was tasty but the pieces were cut very unevenly so some pieces were medium rare and others were close to well done. The lobster tail was very small and too salty. I would not order it again. I was completely disappointed that the veggies were drowning in teriyaki sauce. There was no indication on the menu that they are served in sauce. I typically love hibachi vegetables but I hate teriyaki sauce! They reminded me more of Chinese takeout vegetables than Japanese hibachi. The fried rice was good but not the best. It came with lots of peas and I hate peas. Another disappointment but not a surprise was they don't offer hibachi mustard sauce. Like so many other places these days they offer yum yum sauce instead which we refused because, yuck yuck. They offered us some ice cream on the house (I think because the server knew I was very disappointed about the teriyaki sauce). It came to the table in little plastic cafeteria style cups with the pull back paper top. LOL. I'm glad it did though because the top listed the ingredients and let's just say, we immediately sent the ice cream back. All in all, not the greatest hibachi experience but also not the worst. I would maybe go back for drinks and try some other menu items ... and hold the teriyaki sauce!“

“cozy!! i wanted to visit here ever since it opened but i never had the time tbh. but!! i got my bro to drive me!! yes!!! parking is kinda weird bc Costco is right in the same area, and there's always mad ppl, so kinda tricky to find great parking. and lowkey if you want a drink, it's crazy, like $12 for a 32 fl oz of matcha is insane? like i got it bc it seemed like a deal but Jesus, it's huge, like just an obscene amount of matcha. but the texture was smooth and it was good matcha overall. the food was super yummy as well, the meat was really well seasoned and the broth was flavorful tbh. the gyozas were worth it as well, i loveee good gyozas like the crunch is so satisfying, overall so good. shout out to the random Cantonese ppl ordering next to us with the little kid running around, i found them so silly“

“We moved from Port Washington to MA this May and have been unable to find a spot that offers everything that Aki does, not to mention at the same quality! They just execute everything so well. It was our go to for sushi, we loved the apps (the crispy rice and jalapeño yellowtail are fire), and loved also having options for classic Chinese food. We loved that it offered a little bit of everything. We only ever ordered takeout but the service was always top notch too. We love and miss you Aki!“

From the moment the food hits the table, it is clear that the kitchen operates at a world-class level. The fish quality is unparalleled, boasting a melt-in-your-mouth texture that rivals top-tier, high-end omakase spots in New York City.

Every single dish we ordered was a home run. The crispy rice tuna was a spectacular starter—perfectly golden and crunchy on the outside while remaining delicate on the inside. The spicy Kani Salad and Edamame were spot on.The specialty hand rolls and the signature Miso Black Cod were equally breathtaking, showcasing a masterclass in flavor balance and presentation.

The staff also deserves immense praise; the service was incredibly attentive, fast, and warm throughout our entire meal; with a nice window table.

The only minor disconnect is the atmosphere relative to the price point. With a premium menu where a dinner bill can easily scale up, the environment feels a bit too casual and informal. While the space is clean and contemporary, it lacks the quiet, upscale intimacy you might expect when paying top dollar for premium sushi. It leans more toward a lively, neighborhood-casual spot, kid-friendly, than an elite dining destination.

That being said, the food is so phenomenal that it completely overshadows any minor atmosphere critiques. If you prioritize world-class sushi over strict fine-dining formality, Dozo Dozo will easily become your new favorite spot. I will definitely be returning.“
