Samascott Orchards is a popular pick-your-own fruit and vegetable farm that offers a great variety of seasonal produce. The farm charges a small admission fee of $5, which is considered reasonable compared to other places. However, the management has to deal with the unfortunate issue of theft, as some visitors have been caught hiding undeclared produce in their vehicles.
The farm provides free admission for military personnel, and visitors can bring their own containers or purchase them for around a dollar. The staff is generally helpful, although there have been a few instances of minor mix-ups with the containers.
The fields can get quite busy, especially during peak seasons, and the farm attracts many out-of-state visitors, giving it a somewhat touristy atmosphere. The produce, such as small but sweet strawberries, plentiful black raspberries and blueberries, and fresh broccoli and cucumbers, are reported to be of good quality and reasonably priced.
The farm also has a small on-site shop that sells various local products, including cider, honey, and maple syrup. While the no-refund policy can be frustrating if the pickings are slim, Samascott Orchards is generally considered a fun and enjoyable experience for families and visitors.
