“We have been ordering here for years but the price keeps going up on their platters - we usually get the XL sushi sashimi roll platter. It’s $140 at time of this review. Some of the rolls have a Korean flair with Korean pickled radish in them. A lot of spicy mayo is drizzled over the smaller rolls so it’s hard to tell what type of fish/roll you’re eating so keep that in mind if you have guests. Easy to order because you can’t choose.“

The sushi was delicious, they kept the sushi with gluten in a separate container, they have party platters and party trays, and they sold me the perfect amount of food without being pressured to buy too much. “I'll try to keep this to the point —

I gave Food/Service/Atmosphere 5 🌟 because they were on par for me. For a local spot, this really took me by surprise.

What I ordered:

Miso Soup:
Standard Miso Soup, nothing groundbreaking, but very tasty. Would have loved a tad more tofu & scallion, but that's just me.

Salmon Avocado Hand roll:
Not the hand roll I expected meaning it wasn't in the cone shape I'm familiar with, but it came presented like a taco with the seaweed as the shell. Salmon cuts were huge, and with great colour, avocado was bright & ripe, coupled with the perfect amount of rice. Everything tasted clean, and fresh.

Yellowtail Jalapeno Nigiri:
I messed up with this, originally I wanted a sushi roll, but my brain flubbed. Great mistake though, because the yellowtail was delicious, practically melted in my mouth, topped with a delicate cut of jalapeno on top.

Love Milk Tea:
Honestly, just a really delicious milk tea topped with osmanthus flower. It was light, refreshing, and not too sweet thankfully.

Wagyu Tataki:
Tataki is meant to be briefly seared on the outside, but the center remains raw. Was this seared to the degree I wanted? No. But, was it delicious? Yes. And the meat was incredibly tender, flavour of the sauces really complimented everything on the plate.

I finished off with a matcha cheesecake to go, I'm sure it'll be good.

With tip, I spent $67

Again, for a local spot in Richmond Hill/Kew Gardens, I was thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Personally, with slight adjustments, these folks would do great in midtown. I spent a little under what I would spend at a restaurant in the city, and got an incredibly satisfying meal, and left full.“

“This is the best sushi and sashimi spot on Long Island. This place is clean, the fish is fresh and every item we tried on the menu was delicious. We went in low expectations given sushi is better in manhattan but I feel we've found a gem locally. They had a stir friend udon noodle chicken dish which the kids devoured. I was skeptical but the udon noodles had the perfect shiitake mushrooms flavor and really were delicious. We ordered yellowtail jalepeno, another white tuna truffle, rock shrimp,edamame, gyoza, 355 roll, mikado inspiration sashimi and the chicken udon noodles. The host was sweet and helped in recommending items for our kids. The place is kid friendly. Highly recommended this place.“

“We love this place. Been there twice on the last month. I had a wonderful and plentiful sashimi. The fish was very fresh and delicious. My wife had the eel. The atmosphere is casual but super friendly. It's BYOB! Highly recommend this restuarant.

“Went to Otaki Sushi for lunch and it was worth it. The service was on point; our server was super polite, always checking in, and she made sure our hot tea was never empty. The tea is really good and pipping hot not warm.

We had the salmon teriyaki bento boxes for $14, and you definitely get your money’s worth. The salmon was fresh, no fishy smell, cooked perfectly with a nice crust outside but still moist in the middle, and not drowning in sauce. It comes with broccoli, snow peas, and corn. I like my veggies crunchy so I enjoyed it, but if you like them softer, I’d just mention that when ordering.

The bento also came with California rolls, and those were really good too. Between the portion size, quality, and service, you leave full and happy. Five out of five.“

“Ordered chicken teriyaki lunch special. It was made fresh as I could hear the meat sizzling in the back and the wait didn't take too long (around 10-15 minutes).

The restaurant environment wasn't too great but I figured this is the kinda spot you order takeout from and, in that case, it's adequate for takeout. The chicken looks moist and well-sauced. The roll looks well-made with no browning on the avocado. Miso soup is comforting to have with chicken teriyaki over rice.

I have no complaints. 8.5/10

“We order take out from here maybe once a month and we always get a large order when we do. Their food is always fresh, flavorful, and leaving us feeling fulfilled and satisfied! Their rolls have an excellent filling to rice ratio! My youngest son loves their California Rolls and anytime we get them elsewhere, he says he prefers from Sushi You. They are very thoughtful of presentation, preparation, and protection of the food en route. Super friendly on the phone and they always double check the order placed. “This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood, I come here most weeks. The employees are very nice and you get large portions for a reasonable price. I went here for a good dinner and was able to try a good spread of sushi for a reasonable cost.We started with the pork gyoza, which was nice and pan-fried with a side of the classic ginger sauce. For rolls, we tried the Philly roll, atlantic beach roll, pink panther roll, and million dollar roll. “This restaraunt has GREAT food, fair prices, excellent service, friendly staff, it has a great atmosphere, they are very accommodating, and there is always parking. If there is a wait it is just a couple of minutes, they try to get you started as quicky as possible. I have been going there with my family for many years, I can't remember the last time I went to another Japanese restaraunt. I recommend this place to all my friends and when they go they love it and become patrons too.“

What makes it even better is that it’s kosher, which is such a huge plus. Perfect balance of flavors, generous portions, and everything was fresh and satisfying.

I got the inari roll which was unbelievable and only $5.75 and the miso soup was literally the best I have ever had. “I’ve been there 2 times and both times the service was great. The food is delicious. I tried one of their ramen and from the train I tried 1 white, 1 blue and 1 orange dish and all three were delicious. The price is very good, very affordable, with $14 I ate 12 rolls (3 different flavors). The ambiance is good, quiet as a restaurant inside the mall allows, but it's located at a corner from everything, so it's quieter.

“The food is exceptional here. Each time I've been here the sushi is tasty, the rolls are fresh and the tempura is crispy. The salmon teriyaki was light, flaky and sauced to perfection. The salmon sashimi is top tier and I could have 20 of these in one sitting. The white tuna and red snapper sashimi are also favorites. The sake and crazy salmon rolls were also really really good, the volcano roll wasn't my favorite. I love coming and trying new rolls each time. Its great value when doing the all you can eat option.

The service is great in the sense that you get really tasty and fresh food as soon as its ready. After ordering, our servers brought our items as they were ready and checked on us throughout to clear empty plates and bring more as we needed. They gave us time to eat/enjoy and we didn't feel rushed at any point. If busy then there might be a small wait to get their attention but other than that, I think they do a great job. Sometimes you'll see workers sitting at a table enjoying their lunch as well, but it doesn't bother me because they do such a great job behind the scenes.

The space is clean, tidy, and spacious. They have a selection of booths or tables to sit at. There is also a restroom for customers that is clean and convenient.

Overall a great experience and I'll be back again for the all you can eat option.“
