Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Sushi was very good.
Just spent the day at Lake Minnewaska and ended up here for dinner. We loved it. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. My daughter said it was the best sushi she has had in a long time. And the staff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Hokkaido restaurant may not make a great first impression with its unassuming exterior, but the food and service more than make up for it. The sushi is fresh and delicious, with generous portions that can be overstuffed. Many customers claim it is the best sushi they've had outside Japan. The chicken katsu is also a highlight. Hokkaido uses the freshest ingredients and offers extraordinary crafted sushi rolls, including a recommended yellowtail and jalapeno plate. Be prepared for fast service, but note that parking can be a challenge. This small restaurant can get busy, especially on Fridays and Saturdays from 6-8 pm, which can make it hard to hear each other. Despite this, Hokkaido serves hands-down the best sushi in New Paltz, and the friendly, efficient service keeps customers coming back for more.
