This place has great sandwiches and so many soup options! The cookies are delicious and come free with the sandwich. Friendly service. My new go-to neighborhood spot. I did remove one star for food because although it’s really good, with many bread options, the bread wasn’t as fresh as it could have been.
My twin sister and I discovered Ashby’s while we were in New York for a two-week summer program, and it quickly became our go-to spot. We ate there for lunch almost every day, and one of the staff members started to recognize us and was always so happy to see us. She greeted us with such friendliness and a big smile, which made the experience even better!

First time here. The lady was very welcoming. I came out of the cold to get a hot cup of mint. The lady gave me a Cadbury chocolate candy, then the chef accommodated me with their best seller, grilled chicken pesto. I ate only half side of bread, for reducing my carbs. The banana and a cookie were complimentary.
Eat your pesto right away so the bread does not get soggy.

The restaurant is well-lit and bustling, perfect for a quick lunch break. While there might be a slight preference towards some customers, the fresh sandwiches and convenient location in the heart of Gotham make it worth a visit during business hours.
