This place has great sandwiches and so many soup options! The cookies are delicious and come free with the sandwich. Friendly service. My new go-to neighborhood spot. I did remove one star for food because although it’s really good, with many bread options, the bread wasn’t as fresh as it could have been.
Their sandwiches are good. I get the fresh made ones versus the premade. It’s $13-$14 which is appreciated compared to more expensive options downtown.
I would not recommend the soup. I got lobster crab bisque, but it didn’t have any lobster or crab.
I previously had the crab corn chowder and there wasn’t much crab meat. And it’s $7 for a small soup. I would stick to the veggie options.

My twin sister and I discovered Ashby’s while we were in New York for a two-week summer program, and it quickly became our go-to spot. We ate there for lunch almost every day, and one of the staff members started to recognize us and was always so happy to see us. She greeted us with such friendliness and a big smile, which made the experience even better!

The restaurant is well-lit and bustling, perfect for a quick lunch break. While there might be a slight preference towards some customers, the fresh sandwiches and convenient location in the heart of Gotham make it worth a visit during business hours.
