Great food, classy location. Staff is accommodating even when it's very busy.
Met up with a friend here. A little more grungy than I was anticipating. Service was non-existent.
It WAS a classic NoLita fave. Excellent coffee. Great vibes, typically a cool international crowd. Solid food. My issue is the service has become very overbearing perhaps in their effort to turn tables over. Arrogant servers hound you to order quickly and clear your plate before you finish chewing your last bite. Could be a little more relaxed here. If they improved their service I’d dine her a lot more.
Cafe Gitane is a cute café in SOHO known for its excellent food, including the popular chicken Sautee and delicious tarte. The friendly staff, always smiling and professional, help create a welcoming atmosphere. The owner, Luc, is often present to greet guests. Reasonable prices add to the charm, although the limited menu and tight space can be a drawback. Despite the cozy setting, the tasty tea and coffee make it a favorite spot for many visitors. Guests can also enjoy a vegetarian couscous entree among the options. With a fun vibe and a hint of Moroccan influence, it feels like a little piece of hip French Morocco in Nolita.
