Punjabi Spice is a tiny spot in East Village serving soulful, authentic Punjabi food. The ambiance is relaxed, casual, modest, and clean for take out or dining in. The people, staff, and owner are kind, hospitable, friendly, and welcoming. The food is delicious, fresh, flavorful, clean, and full of authentic Punjabi taste, with great quality and healthy ingredients like Ghee instead of seed oils. The palak paneer was chunky, not watery. The samosas are made as you order them. The paranthas, chaats, Amritsari kulcha with chhole, and dal makhni are absolutely amazing. The naan was soft and perfectly cooked, and the gulab jamun was a delicious finish. There is a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The menu ranges from simple $4 appetizers to a whole meal at very affordable, reasonable prices with generous portions. The hours are LATE, serving through the night till 6 AM, making it perfect for people who work long hours or after a night out. This is the most authentic place in Manhattan for real home cooked Punjabi food.
