This place is the real deal: local, totally authentic, no frills. I speak a small amount of Spanish, and the staff was super nice and patient, though they did laugh a bit when I asked for my eggs sunny side up (I didn’t know how else to order it — I guess just go with “normal” if you’re not sure!)I had the mangú con los tres golpes for breakfast, recommended by someone else’s review here. I have lived in the heights all my life. And "marilu's" is by far the best and the closest thing to to authentic/homemade dominican food. You can't go wrong with a lunch or order special. Their "Moro" style rice is superb. Every time I eat from here it reminds me of my late grandmothers food. And I've had it all, chicken, steak, fish, ribs, oxtail. You name it, they have it. Breakfast m, lunch and dinner.
