Based on the reviews, Xie Bao 蟹宝 is a restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen focused on crab roe dishes. The signature crab roe noodles are excellent, with a sauce that is very creamy, rich, umami, and slightly sweet, coating every strand of noodle. The crab roe over rice is also very creamy, rich, and umami. The crab soup dumplings are very good, filled with soup and crab meat. The crab-filled buns are also a highlight. Other menu items include sweet and sour sea bass, which leans on the sweeter side, and a crab roe shrimp spring roll. The duck and pork buns were okay, with flavorful meat but more bun than meat. The pickled radish (slightly sweet and tangy) and vinegar woodear mushroom side dishes are so good. The dandan noodle was more oily than other dandan. The restaurant has simple décor and no theatrics, with a tight focus on doing traditional dishes well. The menu is quite large with a lot of options. Service is great.
