“Some of the best sushi in Rochester. Everything is clearly made to order and always very fresh. My husband doesn’t typically like sushi, but he loves the Samba roll. Volcano roll is another great one. But the seared tuna appetizer might be our favorite! This has become our go-to place for date night.“

“My favorite restaurant in Rochester, the variety is rich, suitable for the taste of different people, the taste and service are very good, I eat very happily every time, almost every time is Steph to serve me, especially thank him for his enthusiasm.“

“Love this place for sushi and market items. I always spend more than I want in here because the prices are good and the selection on asian products is great. I always get the candy/snacks and drinks for the kids and we get sushi rolls and appetizers. Will definitely return again“

“one word... AMAZING! This small, unassuming restaurant has what might be the best sushi in the area. The menu is mostly sushi/sashimi and is made from the best quality fish. Thank you Shiki for having real spanish mackerel, and proper toro.
Don't forget to end your meal with a little of their homemade ice cream, the red bean is my favorite. Though, the matcha is excellent.“

“I'm not sure I agree with the claim that it is the best sushi in Rochester, but I will say that I think it's among the best sushi VALUES in this area. Overall the food was very good. We ordered a Bento Box A, edamame, two rolls and an order of dumplings. The Bento Box A was simply a massive amount of food. It could easily be split between two people. The salad and soup are standard fare and reasonably forgettable, but definitely not poor quality. The five pieces of sushi and the California roll were fresh, well made and tasted great. The dumplings were delicious. We set aside the teriyaki chicken as a snack to have another day because there was simply too much food to have at one sitting, and the vegetable and shrimp tempura were very very good. We got our food to go but went in to get it. The interior feels a little rundown, but appeared to be clean and was comfortable. I would definitely order food from them again.“

“I LOVE THIS PLACE! The food is amazing and it’s a great environment to sit and chill. I switch up what I order but last time I got the Sea World roll and I think it was my favorite one I’ve had so far. The quality is amazing. I would have to say one of the best parts about E.suki is Cham. She works the front and she is absolutely amazing and the sweetest person you will ever meet. If you have been here you have met her and you know what I mean. She deserves a raise!“

“I came here on a recommendation from a friend. It was very good but not great. I ordered a rum cocktail that was delightful along with a papaya winter salad and duck ragout special. I sat at the bar. The place was jam packed with people. The salad took almost 40 minutes to arrive and the meal took an hour. That was understandable given the crowd. The salad had amazing flavors but was just a bit too spicy for me. I like spicy too but this was more than I like. The duck ragout special was delicious but way too salty. I am also a salt lover so this was surprising. The waitress comped my drink which was nice because of the wait. I really want to go again because there were lots of things I want to try. I just need to plan a much more leisurely dinner and go with a friend. It was too dark to read a book.“

“I have been going to Plum garden since I was a kid - and its always a family favorite!
Hibachi is fairly priced, lots of fun, and great for groups celebrating. A full course meal makes it easy to pick and get some of my all time favorites.“

“Great food and great wait staff! Just be careful to ask about their “service fee” which is really just the gratuity already added onto the bill. I didn’t ask what that was and ended up tipping twice accidentally. Other than that - it was great!“
“I ordered 1 pt roast pork with mixed veggies. It was really good and cheap. The vegetables were very fresh and lightly cooked. The soy sauce was gluten free. I loved my dinner.
The decor is stark, only two tables, and a homeless woman was sitting at the other table. It’s in an unattractive area.“

“We always go for the sushi. Always good and the rolls are huge (don't order more than one specialty roll). The configuration and presentation changes from time to time. The only complaint I have is that the rolls are very, very big (as in round). I would prefer two smaller rounds of the same thing.“

“Sushi King is always an exceptional meal, and that comes with an exceptional wait time. They are, hands down, the best sushi in the area - and the business is run by a Husband and wife pair. Occasionally they are able to get help from younger relatives with waiting on tables, but it's in-between schoolwork, and there are still only the two handling the food. They rely on the income from sales to keep the place running, and do everything in their power to avoid losing those customers - sometimes that means waits end up longer than expected, but that isn't uncommon for the super small family-owned businesses in the area.
Locals understand to expect to wait a prolonged period (1 hour+ for everything minimum, usually, as they're working takeout at the same time). If you plan accordingly, call early, and don't expect the food for 1.5 hours, then you're fine. Also be sure to see the menu in person, as the online menu is sometimes out of date. Sometimes there are small language barriers, but if you're patient there isn't generally an issue.
This is a place you go to support a tiny local business, to get excellent sushi, and to take your time. It isn’t fast turnaround, and the quality doesn't suffer because it isn’t fast turnaround. If you need your sushi fast, look to chain establishments or Wegmans, but don't expect the quality to be nearly as good, or for the food to be super fresh and made to order.
We've never had an issue with service, even if it does take a long time. They're very friendly, and they try to correct issues if and when they occur. High volume turnaround is difficult to manage without making mistakes, but they do their best. Take the opportunity to step back from the hustle and bustle and just exist, converse, etc for a bit.
We ended up spending a lot per person, but also ended up with two meals each. It's still not inexpensive, but it is absolutely a fantastic treat once in a while - or maybe more frequently if you have the funds to spare. It's also more affordable if you don't go all out when you go. How you balance things is really up to you.
And the food is so good that we forget to take pictures. Oops.“
