“This place is fabulous, the customer service goes beyond reproach. The Alamo bar and grill is a must do place, the folks there put a lot of care in what they do, from the waitresses and waiters all the way to the kitchen, staff and cooks that should be called chefs. There’s a lot of passion and love that goes into every dish that leaves the kitchen. For me is home way from home! Oh yes, don’t forget to ask how them the history behind naming the place “Alamo bar & grill”, great story!”

“Really cool little "hole in the wall" type place. I was on my way home to Buffalo from a work trip in Vermont and my maps took me thru the Adirondacks to get to the 90 in Syracuse. So it was really cool to find this place basically in the middle of the woods (from my perspective lol). The people were incredibly kind and the food was great. They treated me like a regular as soon as I walked in despite being a complete stranger. TBH it is very small and a tiny bit run down, but the location and the PEOPLE more than make up for it. If you're driving down NY8 and need a place to stop for a drink or a bite, these guys got you covered!!!!!”

“Best tomato pie around ! Loved their Christmas Eve system this year - instead of waiting on a crazy line forever, they asked us for a pick up time. Be sure to order ahead of time. I walked in right up to the counter and they even had extra pies we could buy for some extra guests coming.”

Eight course meal; bean soup, bruschetta and bread, antipasto salad, mussels in garlic wine sauce, greens with beans, eggplant parmesan, sausage in sauce and pasta with meatballs! All so good!! Danny and staff were accommodating and welcoming. We felt like we were having Sunday dinner at Grandma's house. Highly recommend!”

“Rustic family style atmosphere and great food with huge portions!! Nestled in the Adirondack Park, you get a nice view of nature and great fresh made food. The prime rib was melt in my mouth and companion had the garbage plate. Both were huge and meant lots of leftovers. The sweet pickles and bread are a nice starter. I asked for fruity wine and the server picked an awesome pineapple flavored one. Dinner was $65 and finding such good reasonably priced food and wonderful service is rare.”

“Tonight was my first time there. It was really crowded but there were several bartenders so the service was quick and friendly. Don't know if they have food. Prices match other local taverns. The crowd was quite young. I'm almost 50, so they were mostly in their 20s.”

“Welcoming store, wide variety of quality IPA's (picked up some Focal Banger on the suggestion of a clerk). Been here 3 times, haven't been disappointed with any of their suggestions. Fast and convenient redemption center as well. Will definitely be going here frequently.”

“This was an unexpected highlight of a recenttripto the Adirondacks. Right off, I do prefer places that reflect the local flavor over places that try to reflect the tastes of other places. In other words, I appreciate authenticity. The Tavern on the Gorge boasted a friendly staff, good bar food and a welcoming atmosphere with a good assortment of beverage offerings. I happened to catch this place during a night whereby they had comedians from NYC. The comedians were very good and got plenty of laughs poking fun at the Afirondack lifestyles and values. The patrons appreciated this ribbing and a great night of unexpected fun was a much needed release for me and my wife. We will return on our next trip to the North Country to recapture this homespun experience.”

“It’s a Utica thing kitchen and bar is definitely worth it.. now the location is deceiving don’t look like much but walk in the door you will be surprised.. I was dying for chicken riggies and it’s hard to find good ones a lot of places will say they make good or the best but I know good riggies and they fall short BUT THIS PLACE YUP NAILED IT!! My husband had eggplant parm use to it coming w/a side pasta so that was lacking they gave bread with your meal which was delicious and warm. The salad was good but everything is Al la carte. For the two of us with main dish side salad and my husband had a soda it was 54$..”

“July 11, 2023. 830pmStopped by on the way home from a full day of hiking…got a couple of perfectly made (????) delicious sub sandwichs and also a small container of roast beef slices for my dog(trust me, he deserved a snack!) Zack and Tyler were tending the counter… these two employees were awesome, a definite PLUS for Subway! They were friendly, and very attentive to our orders! It was close to closing tyme for them but they both had a pleasant “can do” attitude with no grumbling …and quite honestly they seemed to like their job! VERY REFRESHING!I like to give a pat on the back when its deserved and it is certainly deserved here! THANK YOU TYLER AND ZACK!You guys rock!!!”

“Amazing Italian food, we got chicken wings with pepperoni pizza and garlic cheesy bread :D my children have been asking for it every since. ? very friendly staff were even able to wrap the chicken wings so I could transport them on my motorcycle.”

“This place deserves MUCH higher ratings! Locals must not know how good they have it.Wife just said close to the best sandwich her whole life. The steak was actual steak, not just thin sliced beef. Steak was tender and full of flavor, so definitely a good cut cooked perfectly. Onions, peppers, and gravy(?) melted together into something awesome. BUT the bread is not just store bought, they bake their own!!! Seems like garlic butter or something on top just takes this trip to space.Only regret is eating lunch, because NO way either of us could have eaten that much ourselves.
