A few years ago, I was hired to write a series of articles about regional Italian cuisine. Since then, I have been looking for traditional Italian gelato. Until yesterday, I have been consistently disappointed.
But this? It was absolutely EVERYTHING I had dreamed about. The prices weren't ridiculous, the bathroom was PRISTINE, the staff were helpful and friendly and it was incredibly, amazingly delicious.

Figo il Gelato Italiano is one of the best gelato spots in New York. Each flavor is true to its ingredients, fresh, and pure. The portions are generous. The Dubai chocolate is especially good, with barks of chocolate in it. The atmosphere is welcoming. The staff is super kind, friendly, and genuinely helpful, taking time to explain flavors and make recommendations. The manager is especially warm and welcoming. Even during a busy afternoon, the line moves efficiently. It is a must visit in the Astoria area and a staple during summertime. The gelato is incredibly rich and authentic. Every time the cappuccino has a heart that makes the day start well.
