About Velma Restaurant

Velma Restaurant is a charming neighborhood gem with friendly staff and good food. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including a standout burger, chicken parm special with hot cherry peppers, and creamy pasta. Guests praise the delicious food and welcoming atmosphere, describing it as a place that always feels like home. The space has a cozy, eclectic vibe with different types of seating and a unique “m” shaped bar that allows for smooth flow and good visual separation between the bar and table areas. Decor features old Italian style red checkered tablecloths with paper on top, deep greens, and interesting textures. Behind the bar, there are decorations like old license plates and trucker hats, giving it a lively, organized feel reminiscent of Scorpion Records. The wine list is good, and drinks like the "Diesel" cocktail balance sweet and strong flavors. Guests highly recommend the pizza by the slice, especially the grandma pizza, which is a favorite. Many visitors praise the meatballs for their great texture, slight spiciness, and classic red sauce. The pasta, such as the creamy vodka lumache, is cooked al dente, though some find the sauce not as spicy or creamy as expected. The Velma salad is described as perfection, with a refreshing lemon vinaigrette. Whether for an intimate dinner or a fun night out with friends, Velma Restaurant is a popular choice, offering a cozy atmosphere and tasty dishes that keep guests coming back.

Great food, awsome atmosphere and amazing service.

Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere, and most importantly extremely accommodating staff considering we had a group of almost ten last minute. Truly a hidden gem in the neighborhood

I thought the food was excellent and the service was top notch. They offer a small menu with a little something for everyone. Prices may be a bit high, but I think that's just the trajectory of the neighborhood, and New York in general.

If I had one complaint, maybe the music volume and selection at 5PM could have been a bit better, but it wasn't enough to deter me from enjoying my meal or coming back.
