New American Restaurants near Rhinebeck, NY

“How did I not know about this place until a month or so ago??? We went for dinner on my husband's birthday, and everything was so good. We (he) was hungry, so we had multiple appetizers, two entrees, and shared a dessert, and we had multiple cocktails. The space is dark and quite cozy, not large, and there's a really nice, big bar. We sat at a table for two, kind of near the entrance, and the only complaint I would mention is that it was a little bit cold in the restaurant initially, and there are better places to sit than near the front door, so you could request a better table if you make a reservation. Other than that, the service was wonderful, the cocktails were really interesting, and I ended up drinking a couple of cocktails with liquors in them that I normally would not choose, but they were delicious. This restaurant is a little different in that they put more emphasis on seafood and caviar in some of their dishes - if you look at their menu, you will see. There were plenty of non-meat appetizers, and the main dishes were a little more limited, but I think there would be something for everyone (we stick to seafood and vegetables). I would definitely eat here again - beautiful ambiance, wonderful service, terrific cocktails, and really good food!“

“My husband and I took a little day trip from Albany today with no real destination in mind, besides checking out Samuels Sweet Shop. As we drove through town, your restaurant caught our eye! After asking the sweet clerk at Sam’s how your food was, we decided to have lunch on her suggestion. And we are so glad we did! The interior of the restaurant is very nice and it was so warm and cozy as we entered. Your staff were wonderful. We each had a drink… I had a Bellini and he chose a beer. Our server was nice enough to look up the brewery his beer was from for us too (nice added touch that he didn’t have to do) We started our meal with calamari. The breading was so delicious and not heavy and the pineapple dipping sauce was a tasty surprise. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich and he opted for steak. My chicken was the perfect blend of hot and sweet and so good. My husband’s steak was perfectly and we both enjoyed the horseradish sauce it was served with. Both served with your homemade shoestring fries. Both, so good! We had a lovely time sitting and conversing. Your waitstaff checking in just enough to make sure we were taken care of and not pushy to get us out. Overall we loved it! We can’t wait to come back in warm weather and try your outdoor seating. I wish I had gotten our servers name, as he deserves the kudos for being so pleasant!“

“What a treasure in uptown Kingston! It was a last minute decision to find a good salad last night. Well, we hit gold! The salads were unique and delicious! The presentation was beautiful. Max the bartender/server was one of the most charming people I’ve met in a long while. I will be back to try everything n the menu!“

“Stonehedge has always been a favorite restaurant for our family. Unfortunately due to life circumstances we hadn’t been there for a couple of years. My husband and I decided to end the drought and went to celebrate our anniversary and we are so glad we did. Everything was even better than we remembered it. It started with the delicious and wonderfully fresh dinner rolls that we’ve always loved. The French onion soup was the best I’ve had in ages (I’m a French onion soup snob😂) and the baked stuffed clams were just as my husband remembered them. The dinner salad with the house dressing was cold and fresh, and we highly recommend the double cut pork chop and the jumbo shrimp francaise as dinner entrees. We both left full and more than satisfied - they never disappoint! Thank you to the folks at Stonehedge for the great meal and good service. It felt like we were coming home! We promise you’ll see us again soon.“

“We had the best time at dinner. The food was so fresh and tasty. The breading on the clams tasted so good. Everything we had tasted homemade and fresh. I can’t wait to go back again. I would go everyday if it were closer to me. I live in Albany.“

“I went in here last night and sat at the bar. At first, the bartender was a little bit rude. But he came around and was fine after that. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza. It was huge. It could easily have fed 2 people. The pizza was very good. Not the best I've ever had, but very solid indeed. The wine pour was also very generous. The prices were very modest My only negative was that it's very noisy. Maybe a few properly placed plants, but a good experience all in all.“

“Amazing atmosphere paired with inspired food and fantastic service. My wife and i were lucky enough to be invited to their soft opening. A great new and fun look to the already beautiful landmark. To get to the point, I’ve been craving some items since we left. The mushroom toast(not a item i would normally order; now I’m lusting), the charcuterie was so advanced from what I’ve already loved at my local favorite places, I’ve told friends about the honey comb alone that made an impression. Entrees: the sea bass, was excellent. The show stopper for me was the ribs! They have been on my mind since! We ended the night with the dessert platter and it completely put a bow on top of the experience. If you’re looking for a date night, a fun friends night or even just pickies and drinks, black barn has put the time into making the menu versatile and delicious. Do yourself a favor and show up there, you’re guaranteed to find a favorite.“
