“I can not believe that this restaurant has been here on Main Street in Port Jefferson Village for over 20 years and I never ate there!!! This is my new Favorite place to eat. The food was exceptional and good size portions. The pita bread they put out on the table was so delicious I could have made that my meal. The service was extremely attentive and so personable. The Owner came around greeting everyone and made us feel like we were all family having dinner together. I am looking forward to my next visit.“

“My wife and I went here last night for our Valentines Day dinner (yes a few weeks late) on recommendation from some friends. Our waitress Jackie was very accommodating and friendly. We had the fried risotto balls and parm truffle croquettes for appetizers which were very good, and that’s where it ended. We got a call from our baby sitter saying one of our kids was getting a fever and was acting out of sorts. We’ve never had to, but felt that it was time to leave early. We asked if we could wrap our pasta up to go, which they were great about. We paid for what we ate so far and left, knowing we would eventually come back. As I got into the car, I saw someone running towards us. As they got closer I realized it was Jackie our waitress. I thought I left my wallet (which wouldn’t be a surprise) but she said the entrees just finished and they wanted us to have them. I didn’t pay for that part of our meal and I asked if I could, but Jackie said they insisted it was on the house because of our situation. We couldn’t believe it; one of the nicest things I’ve encountered. After a 30 minute drive home and putting four kids to bed, we ate out to-go boxes an hour later, and they were incredible. The food is very good, unique spins on dishes with ingredients that pair very well. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food. The restaurant is deceivingly large when you look from the outside. But it was the service that set it apart. We can’t wait to stick around for dessert next time!“

“We have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time now. Oftentimes we order for delivery and the food comes to us in a timely fashion. They keep the busy small eat in order area and kitchen clean. They have many choices, so our mixed diets of regular and vegan have delicious items to choose from their menu.

Vegetarian options: There are vegetable choices, like broccoli and mixed veggies for example. There are various types of tofu dishes too.“

“Holy smokes…literally! Dare I say the best BBQ I’ve ever had in New York? I’ve had ridiculous BBQ all over the country. This brisket is LEGIT!!! Maybe a top 2 or top 3 brisket I ever had. Passed the tug test with flying colors! If I had to nitpick anything it would only be a slight lack of a smoke ring? But the smoky flavor was definitely there and juicy AF! “There were two cute pillows thoughtfully placed on the chair, and the restaurant was very clean. It is highly recommended for those who like sweet food to try the tomato fat beef scrambled eggs! ! ! Highly recommended by this Shanghainese! ! ! Fellow Northeasterners said that the pickled cabbage and white meat are particularly authentic. “I just hosted a surprise 40th birthday at po'boy. It was such a wonderful experience (and the guest of honor was successfully surprised!) Just the vibe I was looking for, relaxed, homey and fun. Great music and atmosphere. They charge a very low and reasonable space rental fee, and we had more than enough space for our 40 guests. So many options for drinks including all of their beers, wine and soda. We were even allowed to bring in our own food at no charge. And decorate the space how we liked. Bartenders there were sooo helpful, friendly, and were able to help with all requests. Highly recommend for a relaxed party, or just an evening with some friends for a couple of drinks. “Dinner was excellent! Extensive menu. Ordered from the pasta section of the menu gnocchi a la vodka with melted mozzarella on top. It was delicious. There was an unprinted kids menu that included good items like spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, chicken fingers with fries, pizza, etc on the night we went. Chose the spaghetti and meatballs and it came with a large bowl of spaghetti and two giant meatballs. My portion was huge too. They were all about service. Very friendly and attentive team members. The restaurant was very busy, but the food came out relatively quickly and very hot.

The only reason I gave the atmosphere four rather than five star rating is because the front door area was so crowded and congested when we arrived that we couldn't get through the dense and unorganized crowd to figure out where the hosts and hostesses were to request a table. We had never been there before so we had no idea if that was a line for a table or takeout. Appears the front door has a take out order counter or area there. There was a back side door that we ended up using and found some hosts in the middle of the restaurant to ask for a table. To our pleasant surprise there was table readily available for us on the patio!“

“Sakura is a hidden gem and hands down my favorite sushi spot in the Hauppauge/Smithtown area. It’s a small, family owned restaurant, and Maggie and her husband go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome. They’re always so kind and attentive, which adds a personal touch you don’t often find.

The food here is incredible. Every dish is packed with flavor and always fresh. My absolute favorite is the shumai soup it’s my go to comfort food. Their torched rolls are consistently amazing, and when I’m looking for something on the lighter side, the diet roll is a great low-carb option.

Also worth mentioning: the fried rice is generous and perfect for sharing, and the crab salad is a must-try so refreshing and flavorful.
I come here for the quality of the food. If you’re in the area and love sushi, Sakura is a must-try.“
