A very cool place, it has a nice menu with lots of choices for Mexican food and is affordable. You see work trucks come and go all day which is usually a sign of consistent quality and speed of service. Lots of other pantry type options which surprised me, supplements and healthy options. Also beer! Good to know since the pickins are slim on the island!

The freshest salads (and beautifully prepared), authentic empanadas with delicious fillings, homemade soup (which has become a dish we hope to replicate at home) and a myriad other offerings that are regular and special dishes worth trying. An absolute gem on Shelter Island!

This place has the best mangoes! They are so sweat and aren’t fibrous, but you have to get them in the summer!

When I ordered enchiladas the proprietor asked if I wanted rice and beans. Of course I did ... enchiladas almost always come with rice and beans. I was sneakily upsold. Bill was $23... $15 for enchiladas and $8 for a small rice and beans. I missed the fine print . I will not be coming back and the enchiladas were not even very good - cheese was not even melted.

Excellent!!! a great Mexican place in the Island, the tacos were just perfect, I have to go back to try the fish burrito! We accompanied the tacos with Agua de Jamaica and beer from their neighbors the Shelter Island Craft Brewery. It was great stop before heading back to the ferry.

Always good fresh food. Large portions and reasonably priced. The go-to place on Shelter Island for a good food that doesn't break the bank. Love the salads!

I've been a patron of Maria's for a long time. recently the staff, in particular the heavy gentleman behind the counter, has been nothing short of rude. They ignored me and my friends while we stood at the counter waiting to order. felt intentional. the man who took my order short changed me on my smoothie. it used to be a fun place to go, their food was excellent. unfortunately every time I leave Maria's, it's with a bad taste in my mouth.

Was on Shelter Island for an event. Went to Maria’s Kitchen with a group of 20 right at closing and they served us all wonderful food. The dorados were amazing, the burritos are huge and the guacamole was great! Thanks for a great visit - we’ll be back again!

The perfect place to eat after a hike at Mashomack. The portions are generous, the food is fresh, and the people are lovely. Will come back again and againVegetarian options: Sister came with me, she is a vegetarian and was not at all limited in what she could order. She agrees, the place is excellent!

Baja shrimp taco is immaculate. So much shrimp in one taco. just amazing. Chicken taco is super yummy and not too salty! Nachos is pico de gallo was *chefs kiss* but the nachos were very clumped up together- still very good.
