Rude staff. Foood average. Waited 15 mins to get menus. Order wasn't correct. Overpriced and average food at best. Cancelling my corporate retreat the hotel based on this experience: they need an attitude and food makeover.
The food was good and obviously the setting is beautiful; however, the way that they seat tables is extremely poor. It's essentially first come, first served for tables. Even though we arrived 30 minute before our reservation there were no tables on the lawn. The only table we could find was tucked away in the corner on the top deck. This made it extremely difficult with our kids who wanted to play in the grass etc. Wish there was a better way to assign and accommodate tables when making a reservation in advance.
Service really really poor and slow. Staff either rude or inexperienced. We have stayed here a number of times and love the hotel (hotel service and pool service is awesome!) but it is so so so let down by the restaurant. Such a shame.
Amazing location, amazing venue staff us was impeccable however food options for lunch as the restaurant is on an island to have more of a seafood selection versus hamburgers steaks also the portion sizes portion size could be increased slightly for the lunch menu.
Great spot! Arrived by boat and the dock master was terrific, accommodating, and friendly. Good food and great atmosphere on the terrace overlooking the bay. We will be back next year.
An outstanding location and all you can eat good picnic/BBQ food is offset by mediocre service. To be sure, the servers are energetic and pleasant, but are WAY under staffed resulting in extremely LONG waits for drinks once the the picnic tables are filled.
Had a very lovely lunch at the Terrace, sat outside, was a Sunday afternoon so a bit busy. Our server Angela was fantastic, very responsive, came back to check on us and our food, very pleasant with a smile each time. Our water was constantly refilled and Josh ran our food out in a timely manner. The food was delicious, I had the gazpacho and lobster roll, my daughter had the Pridwin burger. The gazpacho was the perfect summer soup, so light and refreshing and a wonderful start to the meal. My favorite part of the lobster roll was the homemade brioche bun, it was the perfect buttery compliment to the lobster with dill. Admittedly our favorite part was dessert! We ordered the crème brûlée, ice cream sandwich and chocolate cake. Our compliments to the brand new pastry team! The cookie sandwich featured 2 of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever eaten and they held up perfectly until the last bite of the sandwich. The presentation of the chocolate cake was beautiful and the description of decadent is accurate to the tongue. The crème brûlée was beautifully caramelized with a perfect crack and the raspberries inside were delightful. Overall we had a perfect Sunday afternoon lunch on the Terrace! Highly recommend!
Even though it was supposed to be inclement weather, the move from on the lawn to within the Pridwin's terrace restaurant for this Wednesday's BBQ did little to dampen the vibes. Mostly families and/or older clientele, it's not a "scene" - which is excellent news for anyone looking for the antithesis to Sag or Hamptons bro-fests and Madison / Madisyn / Maddisons. Lovely selection of food on the buffet, frequently replenished. As luck would have it, there were excellent sampled drinks - bottled white Negroni - by Via Carota's beverage department which lessened the blow of the upfront ticketed cost. Sole gripe would be the $45 addt'l in tax & service added to the ticket fee was not well articulated: If it were marketed at $100 w/tax & 20% gratuity for the hardworking waitstaff, it would be more palatable than "oh it's just $75 pp., wait what how'd it end up $195?" Merely a nuisance and annoyance, though. Summation: can't wait to go back again, this time under better weather conditions.
The Pridwin is a charming hotel and restaurant. A very cottage, comfortable feeling, the staff was all very accommodating and professional. I must tell you that the bar and drinks were outstanding. I would bring friends there for the drinks alone. We had dinner which was good (not great but, good enough). There was a guitarist near the bar area who sang and was pretty wonderful but, since we were at a table very near to him - the music was distracting and made it hard to have a conversation at the table. I would definitely go back for drinks and perhaps for lunch
Given the torrential rainstorm, the staff was extraordinary helpful...we ate on the Terrace in the covered bar area at a small table and had a wonderful time...The fish tower was plentiful and a wonderful backdrop to drinks...and then the entrees were all that one could expect, The fish was beautifully presented and tasty...The steak and french fries were delicious and the desserts were wonderful...Our waiter was outstanding, helpful and just a joy....

the food was very good, (with the exception of the smallest oysters we have ever had in this region). but the service was slow, and for the price point we were disappointed with the lack of attention at our table, especially at the time we ate (after 8pm) it was not terribly busy. dessert was a highlight, delicious!
The setting is beautiful and the menu appealing, but we had some glaring issues that I think are due to no one seeming to be in charge. Service was very slow, we repeatedly had to ask for attention and 3 of our party were served absurd lobster rolls that were basically mayonnaise on a roll with no lobster meat. Worse, when we sent them back, a waiter and bus boy both acknowledged that they knew they were wrong when they came out of the kitchen. If that was the case, then why were they brought out??? For all our issues, the restaurant never apologized or offered any token acknowledgement of their mistakes. We were charged for every last bite including our coffees.
Really a special place. We have had the pleasure of eating at the Pridwin many times. The food was delicious, though our dining partners felt everything needed salt, I would rather have things under salted. I would order anything from this menu! If you are budgeting, you might dine elsewhere, though we felt the price was worthwhile. I particularly enjoyed the abundance of fresh greens served with most dishes. Lobster roll appetizers were the winner with two mini buttery crisp rolls stuffed with lobster topped with aoli and a kiss of caviar. Fritto misto offered a large shareable portion of shrimp, calamari, and fish perfectly crispy fried. Steak, perfectly cooked, poached cod was unbelievably delicious. The only dish that was not as good as the rest was the tagliatelle. We felt it was under seasoned- not memorable. I can't say enough good about the service. Really excellent for us, though we noticed some struggle at another table. The expectations are high at this price point, and if we wanted it perfectly done, the pasta would have been sent back just for seasoning ... maybe that's harsh, but guests who will pay top $$ for dining out understandably want it done right. Can't end on a low note though. The ambiance, service and overall dining experience will keep us coming back! Extra kudos to the staff!
we have dined at the pridwin several times now. always phenomenal service and amazing food. I cannot say the same for this visit. we arrived on time for our reservation time of 730. we were asked to have a seat at the bar as our table wasn't ready. no big deal. we were seated at around 740. our waitress came and brought us water and returned a few minutes later to get drink orders. we ordered 2 cocktails. a bourbon with one large ice cube and a cosmo. the bourbon came with several ice cubes and the cosmos came in such a small glass and was only filled 1/2 of the way. our waitress was no where to be found so my husband brought it the bar and addressed the issue himself. they did fix it. our waitress had as much personality as a clam. no eye contact, no smile, it was all business and seemed as though she didn't even want to be there. dinner order was placed, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. ALL were served at the same time. the scallops were amazing and although the sea bass dish was excellent the portion was extremely small that even a waiter (not ours) commented on it and brought my husband a new dish. so we were seated at 740 and dinner and appetizer were out on the table by 8. our entire evening was over in 40 minutes. the restaurant was NOT crowded and there were plenty of seats available. we did stay and listened to music in the bar area. the guitarist playing was the best part of the evening. we have dined at the pridwin now 5 times and maybe this was an off evening for them but im not sure how fast we will return.
My husband I dined early so as to attend the concert at Perlman. We were seated politely and right away. Sitting outside with a lovely view of the water was heavenly. We were disappointed not to sit near the railing, but were told that those tables were all 4-tops and all reserved. (When we left after dining, most of those tables were still unoccupied. Why only larger tables nearer the water view?) Our server (Bea) was very polite, friendly and attentive. She was helpful and knowledgable about the menu. Service was excellent The food was very good -- although Hamptons-pricey. We enjoyed the burrata salad (made with cherry tomatoes!) The tagliatelle was very good. Nice bread selection. The Terrace is worth a splurge on a beautiful Shelter Island summer evening. Next time we might opt for "bar food" at the drinks area on the terrace. (There is a bar menu, but not advertised.)
