One of the best meals I've had at VSC since it opened. They've upped their game by having multiple specials (in addition to their longstanding daily one). They are trying to source locally as long as quality is maintained. I had the bay scallop appetizer. Could have been my entree. So delicious, the scallops were from Nova Scotia as the Peconic Bay ones are in short supply. Lobster pot pie also lovely not too creamy. Tarte tatin was crispy. Jake our server was attentive and had a sense of humor.

A gem on shelter Island! The residents must be so pleased to have such a wonderful place to go and experience French cuisine, locally! I love everything on the menu! Well done Vine street Cafe!!!

Vine Street Cafe On a frigid Friday night in January, we stopped into this casual dining spot on Shelter Island. While the atmosphere could use a little refresh, the staff was pleasant and the food was quite good. We started with a few orders of spicy tuna tacos (really tasty) and crispy calamari salad (good). The entree menu has many terrific options (we LOVED that zoodles were available for all the pasta choices), so it took a while to choose amongst the very appealing dinners. We opted for the halibut (well prepared to order with greens in lieu of potatoes), which was delicious and the meal standout. The lobster pot pie was enjoyed as was the filet mignon. The spicy raab, was so tasty. All of us so enjoyed our meals and look forward to returning to sample more of their well curated menu options.

Well remember you’re on an island. The food was fine. The atmosphere was decent. The service was decent too however to charge $42 for a piece of fried chicken and I do mean one piece of fried chicken I think is just ridiculous and I was there with 3 Kids so The bill for the five of us was approximately $235 plus a $35 tip. If the kids want fried chicken, you can’t just say no My girlfriend did not like her salmon. Actually, she prefers the way I cook it.

Service is an always iffy, sometimes fair and sometimes terrible.Everything else is good but when service is an issue it does not make one want to return. The people who work there seem to not be interested in doing anything to help.

Wonderful experience. Only one complaint which is that the quantity was excessive. I'd love to have the option of choosing how large a serving I'd like, perhaps a “senior” option.

It was not too busy but they constantly forgot about us. Didn't come to ask if we wanted wine with your meal (we did). Aggressively cleared plates before all people were finished (even though no one needed the table. Waiter completely forgot about us. Food was good but not great for the prices. We come here often and this was the worst service we've ever had. By far.

Delightful from start to finish. I've always liked VSC, but had not been in several years. Oh, what I've been missing. The space is warm and inviting, the servers seemed genuinely happy to see us, and the food was first rate. But it's the service that really sets this place apart. The last time I had service this good was at a 3-star Michelin restaurant in Paris. Only this time instead of the more restrained and slightly fussy attentions of a Gallic gentleman, we were treated to the warmth and infectious enthusiasm of a sweet, young woman from the East End. It didn't hurt that the smoked beet salad was alive with flavor, the cheddar grits rich and creamy as could be, the creamed spinach a marvel of perfection (not overly creamed, the spinach still holding its own), and the moules frites delicately cooked and deliciously sauced. But the kitchen could have sent out a breaded hockey puck on a stale roll and the superb service would have more than made up for it. If you're in need of cosseting (and an excellent meal), get on the ferry and head over to VSC. You won't be disappointed.

Only restaurant open on Thursday night in winter - excellent meal and menu. Fried chicken over cheese grits and spinach was delicious and pork tenderloin with Brussels sprouts and parsnip laced mashed potatoes were equally scrumptious. Nice atmosphere and servers were on top of their game.

We are so grateful for the consistently wonderful and well sourced food at this warm and welcoming spot on our magical island - we also always discover a new favorite wine at every dinner

Food was excellent. Service impeccable. I was a little disappointed with our table as it was adjacent to the service entrance for the staff. Also I was surprised there were no holiday decorations. All that said the we had a wonderful time and will certainly be back

Best service on the island. Good is consistent and love is found in every bite. The staff are well trained and hit the standard every time.

Food is consistently delicious. Love their price fixed menu. You know your taste buds will be happy, as will your wallet.
