“After a long exciting day at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we needed fuel before our return to Chicago. We googled "food near us", not wanting a chain. The rating was about 4.5 so we decided to try it. Initially I asked the other patrons if food is actually served there, and they pointed to an area where the owner was cooking. He was genuine and warm, we ordered beverages before he returned to the kitchen to finish another customer's food order. My gyros was terrific and flavorful and my husband's club sandwich was also loved. It was clear the French fries were fresh - we are some even though trying to hold up to our resolutions to eat more healthily. One comment mentioned by a previous reviewer, yes it is a bar with a grill and not a restaurant per se. It would be helpful if the ambiance was enhanced a bit so females felt more at home. The bathrooms could use some TLC, and the floor tiles a nail or two to prevent tripping. Looking at it through a new set of eyes is the way to go. Think: date not boy's club and attract a new crowd. “We were there for St Patrick's Day and I will say as busy as it was we were sat quickly in perfect booths. From the beginning our service was so wonderful the ladies were all so sweet and assisted each other servicing all of the tables so well. I got the pork shank with crispy brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes and my husband had a corned beef sandwich/w potato salad and we shared the Irish egg rolls and everything was delicious!!!! My only suggestion is not to cut the egg rolls as they cooled off too much B4 we got them but,, were delicious. The Guinness was fresh and my hubby loved it. I would highly recommend this establishment and their great employees.“

“Today, me and my grandmother went to Smitty's Place after getting my hair cut at Cleveland Street Barber Shop. She ordered the Quarter-Pound Cheeseburger, while I ordered the Shrimp Basket and the Soup of the Day. The shrimp basket is cheap and delicious, including 6 deep-fried Butterfly Shrimp and a hearty portion of French Fries. The soup, not as good. Though it tasted great, it was supposed to be spicy. That's why I ordered it. It turned out to be about as spicy as a Poblano Pepper (About half the spiciness of a Jalapeno). I was disappointed, but it didn't stop me from devouring it. Overall, we had a good lunch. I hope to come here again soon.Parking: Parking is right in front of the restaurant, enough for most guests dining in.“

“Food was good and reasonably priced. Only one person was working / cooking but she was able to make our group’s food pretty quickly. Atmosphere inside was good. However, there was a group outside smoking weed and cigarettes, swearing and yelling, and overall being obnoxious. They ruined the patio for us. Other than that, the patio was nice. The inside was also nicer than we expected.“

The ribs fell right off the bone and could've fed the whole family. The fries here are no joke. I usually don't take fries home, but these were worthy of an acception. The chicken tenders were fresh and juicy and so were the burgers. For appetizers, we got fried mozzarella and beef nachos. We could've lived without the nachos, but the mozzarella was yummy. They also had homemade chips and French onion dip that were really good. It was hard to pick fries or chips as a side. “The best thing about this place is the service. Joe, Shannon, Sam, and Adam are some of the most friendly bartenders in town. The cooks are great and sometimes delivers the plates themselves. Everyone has a smile. “I had their chili it was so good I purchased one to go, I want to try their burgers they look great, they have $3.00 off of the burgers on Mondays !! The bar tenders are great as well , always smiling & outgoing!! They have pool tables & dart boards, which are great! The only bad thing I would comment on is late at night, (if you don't like rap I wouldn't go there, but there are people that do ), your choice, I see a lot of the younger generation up there, having a great time, and that is all that matters. “Not quite a "dive" bar, but it is a neighborhood hole in the wall. Food is good, as are their prices. And it seems they are always open regardless of weather or holidays. Mixed crowd, but everyone is always friendly and everyone feels welcome. Just a great place to stop for beverages and a bite to eat. I especially love their pizza, and stuffed hot peppers! (But everything is pretty good...)“
