New American Restaurants near Kent, OH

“Went with my In-laws this past Friday. The parking was awkward making it difficult to exit to the front of the building. The food, drinks and service were top notch. However, I thought the 3% up charge for using a credit card vs cash to pay the bill was a bit petty due to the already inflated menu prices. This left me wondering; why the owner thought it was more important to cover their $5 cost at the expense of me returning again?“

“Food and waitress were great but not happy with what we saw!!!! Minus 1 started because the manager, Shelby, was reprimanding our waitress (I’m not going to mentioned her name) in front of multiple customers in different locations of the restaurant. Our waitress was doing a great job, she was handling multiple tables and every time we saw her gone Shelby seemed to be yelling at her AND other employees. Shelby came over to our table and asked if we were looking for our waitress when we weren’t and she asked if we needed boxes because we were basically done eating but we were chatting at our table. It seemed as if she was fishing for us to say something bad about our waitress (who was so sweet and got us anything we needed when she was available). Shelby did this to another table beside us as well. We could tell our waitress was getting frustrated and upset, which honestly of course because of how she was being treated and talked to! Our waitress was not new either and had been at Paninis for sometime. If Shelby was trying to provide her guidance, she could have talked to her separately away from customers and not try to make it seem like she was doing a terrible job because she wasn’t. My card was accidentally charged for my meal and another meal at our table and I honestly think it was because the manager was yelling at her while she was cashing us out (we saw it). It was no big deal, our waitress fixed it, no problem. The problem was the manager! Someone at our table confronted the manager about her attitude as well. I feel bad for the employees experiencing the rude demeanor of Shelby. If you are working in higher authority, provide guidance without needing to try and shame a person in front of the public!!!! The table beside us even said they thought Shelby was being very rude to her. To our waitress, you were great and I will happily be back for your service. To Shelby - learn proper etiquette in a management role and proper corrective teaching moments to your employees.“

“Had lunch on their first full day back after 4th of July weekend. They were busy and a little behind. The pretzels were amazing!!! The ahi tuna tacos were perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, the burger, which was ordered medium, was way overcooked. Service was friendly. If not for the nearly burnt burger, the place would have gotten a perfect 5 stars!“

“Went there tonight for dinner. I’m in town visiting a friend but found myself on my own this evening, saw this place on my map, and decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint! The friendly staff, the ambiance, the food, and the general vibe were great. They’re clearly well liked in the area because a lot of people were there and seemed to know the staff well! I had a simple dinner of wings and fries and they were delicious. The waitress/bartender (I forgot to catch her name) made sure I was doing okay every chance she got, no matter how much other stuff was going on. If I’m in the area again, I’d definitely come back!“

“Food is good - when they are open. Saturday at 2:30 they were already closed. If business is slow or they are shorthanded, they close. Hours are never reliable. Call first. PS - not trans-gender friendly. I know someone who was told that they can’t use the bathroom there.“

“Just had a great dinner. The best food we have had in a long time. Mushroom Carbonara for my wife, Japanese sea bass for me. Delicious, we had beef tartare for appetizer. Great service. Even the manager was bussing tables (which to me a sign of a well run place where everyone does what it takes). Good job.“

“Normally I don't do reviews for a salad and soup lunch, however this place is worth mentioning.

So Clean, so clean. I was here before the dinner rush and after lunch. They were cleaning the chair legs and benches! The bathroom was immaculate!

The food I ordered probably did not do the place justice, come check it out for yourself. The clam chowder was very yummy in the picture I took.

“Food was really good, but the service was even better! We had the privilege of having Gracie wait on us and she was super nice, and patient as she answered all our questions. If I were to recommend one thing, I say go for the onion rings! Fresh, hot, crunchy and not greasy at all. It's definitely a place we will be coming back to.“

“We just live down the street and have been going here for years. Had a bad experiance with over cooked burgers earlier in the summer and quit going. Today we decided to give it another try and we are glad we did. Our burgers were cooked to perfection and huge, very juicy and tasty. The value is the best I've seen anywhere we've been lately. Definately will be back soon. The young man who waited on us was super also, very polite and fast!“

“Stopped in on a whim for a burger and fries. OH MAN....am I glad we did - this was by far, one of the best, if not the best burger I have had in a very long time. My husband agreed. There was nothing at all to complain about. The bartender was our server, and he was super as well.“

“If you want something more than the typical hospital cafeteria food, then try Virtues. They are located on the ground floor of Akron Summa hospital. I am at the hospital because a family member is having surgery, and this restaurant was recommended by the desk staff. You walk to the counter and order. They give you a buzzer that signals you when the order is ready. I had the signature BLT and a side Ceasar salad. The salad was good size, lettuce was crisp and fresh. The BLT is served on sourdough bread and had a chitpotle mayo that gave it a good flavor and just a tinge of heat. For expecting "hospital" food, this was a pleasant surprise. It cost me just under $20 for the sandwich, salad, and a fountain drink.“

“We love going here. The food is always good and the service is memorable. Even if they are super busy they treat you as if you are the only guest. It's a weekly night out for us. Try the social hour. Its a nice way to experience the place if you have never been before.“

“Great experience with Hudson’s Catering this weekend! 80th birthday party for my Mom with family coming in from all over OH and PA. Kevin made it easy, picking the menu, delivering the food and setting it up. The food was fantastic and rave reviews from all the guests, especially the Chicken Romano, the green beans and the cinnamon fruit dip. Highly recommend!“

“On Thursday night there is a trio of fun bartenders , Allie , Micaela, and Monica. Always in a great mood and very attentive to your needs. The food is top notch sports bar type and well prepared. The selections are across the board and have never had a bad meal.“

“I had my high school reunion in the private room that overlooks the Cuyahoga River. Everyone loved socializing on the balcony. The appetizers were delicious - chicken sliders, calamari and the cauliflower. The buffet was fantastic, I received many compliments on the beautiful salad, chicken and sirloin. Bri and Brian were amazing servers and very personable. I enjoyed working with Jessica and Jessica in organizing my event. I highly recommend!“
