“There are 2 parts to this establishment. It was Sunday. One side there was a DJ. They were selling food in the back and someone was taking pics, And the patrons were dressed up. Men in suits and ladies in dresses, and the other side of the bar was dress down and there was a juke box.“

“While I’ve heard many speak of “The Standard” in Collinwood, I had never made it there until Thursday, when my “foodie” daughter, (@thingsivebeeneating), planned my surprise birthday dinner there for our big family.
The ambiance was so relaxing- dimly lit, sheers gently flowing between tables, a long beautiful bar, an open kitchen, and an outdoor garden patio area that truly felt like an oasis- you might forget you were in CLE on the eve of Halloween. It was lush, vibrant, and warm. The music that was piped throughout the restaurant, vacillated between “La Vie en Rose” and Frank’s “I Did It My Way”…truly transported you to a fine dining establishment in Paris. We were seated in front of the open kitchen. I don’t always enjoy this view, but the people in this kitchen seemed relaxed and happy to be there! While cooking, they seemed to have a camaraderie going- lots of smiles, and zero sense of being harried. (I noticed when a couple came in for dinner on the later side toward kitchen- closing, the staff there visually appeared welcoming nonetheless.)
Our group shared several bottles of wine, tried the innovative cocktails, and also the old tried and trues. We loved our server, Nicole. She was knowledgeable, welcoming, and fun! She quickly delivered the complimentary, freshly baked rolls with a trio of tapenade, olives, and oil/balsamic. My daughter warned us to come hungry, as we’d be wanting to try several apps. We had frog’s legs, crab croquettes, tuna tartare, French onion gratiné, beet carpaccio, and escargot. Other seldom seen items such as quail, foie gras, bone marrow, Moroccan lamb sausages, etc. were also available. We took SO long to decide on our entrees- they ALL sounded magical. We had aromatic, Fez chicken (complete with tagine) served with Moroccan couscous, Dover sole, pistachio encrusted rack of lamb, Chef/Owner Said’s bountiful paella, 24-hour braised short rib, and an epic “bowl” of pasta bolognese. My daughter prearranged a brought in cake, so we didn’t try the desserts, but Said amped our finale with a round of fancy nut-and-chocolate-encrusted coffee concocted liqueur shots! (Insert chef’s kiss!) This dinner celebration was nothing less than over the top! We had a fantastic evening! It almost (but not quite) makes me anxious to age, just to celebrate there again!“

“You know that scene in Ratatouille where the food critic was transported to his childhood from the food that happened to me here. The tacos tijuana with carne asada brought me back to when I was a kid sharing a botana platter with friends after church in the little hole in the wall restaurant down the street. I've never had carne asada like that since, and now I've found it. The holy grail Taco. The one Taco to rule them all. The macguffin of my life. I've found on my 40th birthday a taco that was and shall be my simple yet amazing friend. Don't get me wrong, I love Condado, Momocho, and lesser but still love for Barrio. However, they were usurped in my heart by the new number 1 authentic Mexican in my humble opinion. I love food, and for the first time in a long while, I felt that love was reciprocated. Don't miss this hidden gem. You won't regret it!“

“Wonderful experience. The food was delicious, we ordered the pizza 🍕 and grilled cheese w: tomato soup 🫕. The staff were very helpful and welcoming what more could you ask for? The vibe of the restaurant is rustic farmhouse mixed with a boho chic atmosphere. Neutrals and earthy tones. You honestly don’t know what to expect with the storefront but it’s such a hidden gem. Happy my iPhone 📲 picked this as a restaurant I’d like. #solonohio #foodinsolon #familyfriendly #veganoptions #bestpizza“

“Sad that I hadn’t ventured here sooner. The atmosphere was calm and exciting at the same time. The guac was impressive, and the chips were perfect…and then the food came.
I was not at all expecting to have a steak this good. I can normally pick apart a steak but literally nothing on the plate was anything short of perfect. The potatoes were next level.
What an amazing meal.“

“This is a throwback to the days when all department stores had restaurants, tea rooms, bars, etc. The Walnut Room in Macy's (formerly Marshall Field) State Street store in Chicago is still the quintessential department store restaurant. I am so happy that Nordstrom continues this tradition throughout the US. I love the Nordstrom Grille restaurant at the Beachwood Place Nordstrom in the suburbs of Cleveland, OH. I go there a lot. Plus they sometimes offer special holiday-themed breakfasts for kids/families (i.e., Spring, Easter, Mother's Day, Christmas, etc.).
Vegetarian options: My daughter is vegetarian and loves the food at the Nordstrom Grille. She always finds something she likes.“

“Booked a reservation for my mom's 70th birthday, and it was our first time dining at Brio. While the food was excellent, we were extremely disappointed with the service. We usually don't complain, but the experience was unexpected. We ordered wine and didn't receive it until we had nearly finished our dinner. Even then, we had to pour it ourselves and was poorly opened. Despite asking multiple times for water, we never received refills. On top of that, there was an accidental spill at our table, and after repeatedly asking for napkins to clean it up, none ever came. Our appetizer plates were never cleared, so they piled up on the table throughout the meal. To make matters worse, before dining, I had mentioned to our waiter that it was my mom's 70th birthday and that we wanted to get her a dessert after dinner, but he never offered a dessert menu or brought one. I wanted to treat her to a special dinner and dinning at Brio was beyond disappointing, especially with how much we spent. :(“
