“We went to our granddaughter's dance competition in April 2024 at the DeYor Performing Arts Center and had dinner at Avalon afterward. There was a line out the door to be seated on a Saturday night, but the customers waiting in line were friendly and assured us that the line moves fast - this restaurant obviously has a regular following. We sat at the bar and again sat among regulars. I had a Cabernet, and Ray had a beer. Heaven! I can't believe the menu here!!! It reminded me of my ex's Italian family recipes. I had the fried smelts and Brier Hill Pizza (just like my ex-grandmother in-law's homemade)! My husband had wedding soup - with homemade soup breads - another Youngstown staple! I make soup breads at home, but I have never had them at a restaurant. Impressive and delicious! My husband had a meat pizza and loved it. We ordered a potato pizza and cannoli to go. I didn't realize a restaurant still existed that served authentic Italian food. By the end of the evening, my cheeks were sore from smiling! What an experience!“

The owner quickly made the pizza so I could be on my way as I live 25 minutes from his restaurant. A couple weeks later I ordered 4 pizzas for my guys at work. They loved them!!! They give you two extra small slices of garlic bread like they took one slice cut it in half. The serving should of been bigger or gave you four small slices. “Nice little hole in the wall spot nestled in an older neighborhood for some pretty good food and cold beer. This was my second visit here and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and kept the beers coming. I decided on the build your own burger option where I added bacon, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Burger came out juicy and the bacon nice and crispy. Paired with fresh cut fries, this definitely made for a great burger that paired nice with the ice cold Coors Lights I was washing it all down with. I slipped up and never took any pics so I guess I have to go back for Yelp* purposes for another visit. I'm not sad about this.“

The beef and cheese pastelillo was nice and beefy but the chicken and cheese was even better. The relleno was a much better version of a fried mashed potato ball than any other version I have had, with a little beef inside too. We got the slow roasted pork meal as well which was delicious and came with yellow rice which was amazing. The chef even brought out some beans to go with it on the house and they were delicious too. We got to try all their sauces. The mojito sauce was the best but they were all good. We're having the leftovers for dinner right now because we don't want to wait to have more. Give them a try!“

“We walked here from The Grand Resort for a nightcap and ended up ordering some appetizers. There is an inside and semi outside section of the bar - we picked the outside section. The ugly lights were on inside and it seemed like more of a cafeteria. There is smoking outside but it is well ventilated. Our bartender was nice and food came out fast. “Hands down the best Italian restoration I have found in Warren. Period.Friday night pre-concert dinner. Immediately seated but the place filled up quickly. Wait staff friendly and helpful. Too many menus for my taste but all was clear and the variety of choices impressive.We got a calamari appetizer and a couple glasses of merlot. I opted for the braciole and my date the egg plant parmesian. Salads can quickly with bread and butter. Surprises a class operation didn't have dipping oil.Entrees came just as we finished salads.The food was outstanding. Portions were ginormous. Three pieces of braciole and a huge plate of pasta. I couldn't finish it all. Sauce was excellant thick enough to stick to the meat and noodle but not heavy. Our server, Marley, offered a desert menu but we declined. But I may got back with an empty stomach just to check them out. By the way, Marley was great. Ask her nice and she will sing for you.“

Multiple entrances so you won't be stuck on busy Mahoning Ave. Bus stop right on the corner so it's got public transit available.“
