“Finally stopped into Amba! An acquaintance and I dropped in for an impromptu dinner on a Friday night, and I was excited to finally see it as I’d been hearing so many great things about it. They’ve definitely got the towns attention! When I came in I was really impressed by the overall ambiance and it has this beautifully dark, sculptural quality. I was surprised by how drawn into the decor and visual aesthetic of the space. And if you’re someone who feels you like that feeling of cozy and privacy when out enjoying a meal- it is perfect for you. My friend and I enjoyed a combination of both the cocktails and mocktails, I had the spiced nectar and blue bergamot. SO good. So different than the typical mocktail- not your typical mixer combo. But really unique recipes created with a lot of depth. Just as much to be enjoyed as the plates themselves. We had somewhere around 7-8 dishes and I came in as someone who loves Indian food expecting a typical experience and was given more than a meal, but a really fun and innovate experience. “Royal taste of Bengal : Nestled on the west side of Cleveland, a husband/wife duo run this charming establishment. The owner/chef used to work at Bombay Chaat over by CSU and he remembered us. He also routinely comes out and greets the customers. You can really taste the love in the food! Want something off the menu? No problem. You can even see into the kitchen while he cooks and chat. There are a lot of things on the menu that other restaurants don’t offer, highly recommend if you want authentic Indian flavors. The food takes time to prepare so don’t be in a hurry. I first found this restaurant about a year ago when my boyfriend and I happened to pass by and decided to give it a try. I still remember the first time they brought out the soup with chopped onions on the side. I was honestly shocked by how good it was. That soup immediately became one of those flavors I knew I would never forget.

I loved the food so much that I came back again with a friend, and then came back a third time before I eventually left Cleveland.

I’ve been living away from Cleveland for more than a year, and recently I drove back from Chicago because I’ll be staying here for the next two months. When I thought about where I wanted to eat first, this restaurant was immediately at the top of my list. I literally drove about 40 minutes just to come here.

At first I was a little confused because the restaurant has a different name now. I only found it again because I had previously shared the address with my friend. When I walked inside and saw the restaurant, I immediately recognized it and thought, “YES, this is the place!”

And somehow, after all this time, the food is STILL just as amazing as I remembered.

The lamb and rice are incredible. The fish is something I order almost every single time. And the HUGE fresh bread is unbelievably good — seriously, you HAVE to eat it right after it comes out while it’s still hot and fresh. It is absolutely amazing.

And then there is the soup. I genuinely think I will remember that soup for the rest of my life. I have tried other Yemeni restaurants while I was away, but nothing has ever tasted quite as good as this place.

Because I lived far away for so long, I couldn’t come here often, but I never forgot the flavor. I would actually think about this food from time to time while I was gone.

Finding this restaurant again after more than a year honestly made me so happy. Same owner, same incredible food, and still one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Cleveland.

The food in this place is so delicious it makes me deeply emotional with gratitude. The veg. biryani legit makes me overwhelmed with appreication and bliss. You can taste the love and intention that they put into this food, with every bite. One time I went there and had the puri chaat with a side of peanut chutney and the veg biryani and just burst into tears of like pure gratitude for the opportunity to experience such a delicious and nourishing meal. It was one of those moments that I was so blissfully grateful to be alive. Food does not normally have this type of emotional impact on me, so I am aware how unhinged it may sound to have such a reaction to a takeout order. But I have this reaction just about every time I eat there. It is like an incredibly wholesome feeling I cannot describe and I am constantly grateful that this place exists and that the folks there share this cuisine with the community. I love this place! it is an absolute gem. All of the staff are super kind and provide excellent service. If you are vegan or have allergies, they are very helpful with recommendations and attention to detail. I cannot stress how awesome the food is there. Everything I have had has been fantastic. I look forward to going back.
