“I've eaten here twice. The first time i had the chicken fried steak sandwich. It was excellent. The second time i had the American cheeseburger. It was very good. The fries were good too. The seating is in a courtyard and a great place to people watch. Order at the register and they give you a buzzer so you know when your order is ready. Might get a Philly next time.“

“Great place to eat. Very clean enviroment and they have awesome people who work there. After having a hard time finding some good food, I went there Saturday afternoon and got to sit outside. Deciding the menu was anything but easy however. If you take part in Byzantine lent, you would know it's hard to find places to eat and items on any menu since you basically become vegan till easter lol. The server i had was patient and kind enough to explain me the menu and what options i could get to compensate that, despite how busy it was. I came back later that night to hang out at the bar for some coffee. The bartender i had was rushing and taking a lot of orders and still managed to be courteous to everyone which impressed me. I used to be a busser and i know how stressful the job can get for servers, bartenders or food runners. They work hard and we need to appreciate them. “Located directly across from the Hard Rock Casino, and adjacent to Catoosa high school, the location makes it a busy stop for lunch and late night visitors. My visit today was for an early Sunday breakfast (0900); we had our fill of inflated casino meal pricing and knew that IHOP would deliver the goods at half the price.

Grounds/Parking: grounds are immaculate, not sure if the grounds are integrated with the shopping center, but kudos for landscaping, and a clean large parking area. Most IHOP parking lots on Sunday morning are littered with Saturday night beer cans and trash, someone had this place spotless at 0900; good job !

Interior: Standard IHOP seating, however the building has large bay windows on three sides, lots of natural light which brightens the usual drab IHOP interiors. Interior, like the exterior, was clean, no sticky tables or seating, empty tables are bussed and cleaned promptly.

Food: We ordered the true and tried “quick breakfast”: Eggs over easy, bacon, pancakes, Pot of Coffee. Order was received promptly, and food was delivered hot. Although the food was good, the portions have shrunk, considerably, since our last visit six months ago. The eggs are small, bacon tiny, my spouses sausages look like Vienna cocktail wieners. Pancakes were normal, but the syrup was unmarked and contained some generic “goo” (I’m from Vermont, so I’m usually Karen-picky about fake syrup). Coffee was okay. I had to mark down the rating from a five to a four because of the serving sizes, perhaps this is unfair as the portion size reduction was likely a corporate decision, and the IHOP locations are forced to buy from the “company store”.

Service: A bit lackluster. Waitress was not very friendly, but it’s an early Sunday morning shift and no one is too “Flo” bubbly at that hour. She did take our order promptly, order was accurate, and checkout fast and painless; all is forgiven.

Overall I recommend this place for road warriors, but especially for casino patrons that want a decent meal without the casino extracting your remaining cash. The food size portions have taken a hit, likely corporate wide, but it’s still a good value compared to the casino, or the “popular” breakfasts places with an hour long waitlist.“

We kicked off our weekend stay at the Hard Rock Hotel with a classic diner-style breakfast at HWY 66 Diner—and it was the perfect start. The retro vibe, friendly service, and hearty breakfast made us feel like we’d stepped back in time in the best way possible.
Later that day, after an exciting afternoon of gambling, we couldn’t resist returning when we saw their homemade milkshake list. And wow—what a decision! Sitting side-by-side at the vintage counter, we shared a romantic moment that felt straight out of a movie. We ordered the Peanut Butter Heath Bar shake, and it was hands-down one of the best we’ve ever had. Rich, creamy, and blended right in front of us, it was the perfect mix of indulgence and nostalgia.
More than satisfied, my husband and I were so glad we chose to share that experience. HWY 66 Diner isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to make memories. Highly recommend stopping in whether you're craving breakfast, dessert, or just a little retro magic.“

Now, onto the food!

I ordered the corned beef hash with sourdough toast and avocado on the side—and WOW, this dish delivered! The chopped potatoes were perfectly balanced with tender corned beef, and the toast was crispy on one side and warm and buttery on the other -- just right! Oh, and the hollandaise sauce? Amazing. Smooth, rich, and flavorful, with just the right little kick—it elevated every bite!

My wife went for the steak and eggs (poached, of course), and it was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and flavorful, and her poached eggs were exactly what you'd hope for—delicate whites with velvety yolks. She loved the hollandaise sauce just as much as I did, adding it to just about everything on her plate.

Our younger son was all about those Mickey Mouse pancakes with whipped cream, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, and sausage links. The pancake was fluffy and golden, and the whipped cream made it a total kid-pleaser. He gave it two sticky thumbs up!

Meanwhile, our older son went straight for the chicken and waffles. The waffle was light and airy, the fried chicken was crispy and flavorful, and together, they hit that perfect sweet-and-savory combo. He cleaned his plate in record time—always a good sign!

Our son's friend kept it classic with a chocolate chip waffle, scrambled eggs, and bacon. That waffle? Loaded with melty chocolate chips and just the right amount of sweetness. Add the crispy bacon and fluffy eggs, and you've got yourself a solid breakfast winner.

And did I mention the portions? Generous across the board!

All in all, EGGcellent & Things Cafe really lived up to its name. Cozy vibes, fantastic food, and stellar service. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, we might just order extra hollandaise!
