Golden Fish and Chips in Georgetown delivers a genuinely enjoyable experience that keeps you coming back, with just a couple of small things holding it back from perfection.

The food itself was fresh and tasty — you can tell they're working with quality ingredients. The fish had a satisfying crunch and the chips were cooked well. My only gripe is that the portions came out a little oily, which can feel a bit heavy. A slightly lighter touch with the oil would easily make this one of the best fish-and-chips around.

What really stood out was the staff. From the moment you walk in, the team is warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly — the kind of service that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. It goes a long way in making the overall experience a pleasant one.

The ambience is decent and functional — nothing too fancy, but comfortable enough to sit back and enjoy your meal. “The best fish & chips in town! Always fresh, hot and delicious! The portion sizes are great and the prices are very reasonable. The fish is perfectly battered and never greasy. They have great daily specials and family meal deals. The restaurant is always clean. If doing take away, it’s so easy to call ahead and they’ll have your order ready for your arrival. The owner is so kind and friendly. It’s such a lovely small business and it’s definitely one worth supporting!“
