Rebecca welcomed our party and brought us to our table.
She came back at just the right time to take our dinner order.
The chicken Caesar salad was the best I'd had in a long time.
The burger and fries, which the birthday boy had was good enough to clean the plate off.
Rebecca was pleasant, personable, kind and laughed my dumb jokes.

“Ernie’s Cookhouse in Hespeler Village absolutely knocked it out of the park! I ordered the Pulled Pork Macaroni, and as someone who’s had their fair share of Southern BBQ, including my all-time fave at Moe’s in Mobile, Alabama, I can honestly say Ernie’s version is even better. It’s smoky, cheesy, and everything comfort food should be. My partner had the Montreal Smoked Sandwich special and was blown away by the generous portion size. We both left with full bellies and full takeout containers, which is always a win. We couldn’t resist taking home an entire Coconut Cream Pie. It’s hands-down the best Coconut Cream Pie I’ve ever had in Southern Ontario (possibly the world, but let’s not start a pie war). Joel Cook, the owner, deserves his own 5 stars. He’s not only serving up amazing meals but is also a huge supporter of local teams and charities. He’s helped bring the heart and soul back into Hespeler Village. Highly recommend! Come hungry, leave with pie and maybe a new appreciation for how great local food can be.“

“I have been here 3x and just recently tried some of the apps after 9pm super good and the bar tender is very nice and very helpful with our visit. good place to try if you are in the mood for comfort foods.“

“Popped in first time for dinner. I had the bangers and mash - I could barely eat it all!! The sausage was awesome peppery the mash was great but the gravy OMG it was so rich and just ended far too soon for me.. My wife had the wings and they were huge!! “Loved having our server Gabe! He served our table promptly and is the reason we had such a great experience. Usually, the service is so slow so this was such a positive. To be noted, management seems extremely rude and UofG should look into it. Other serving staff seemed extremely unprofessional. Would love to see more lovely & lively servers, like Gabe!“

“went to this establishment with my wife while I played in a league. I ordered my drinks, of course using my manners. After both of us ordering drink as well as many others, I had received my drink and many others, while my wife's drink had not. I went up to politely ask about my wife's drink taking so long. They said it was coming. Then right after that I was confronted by a different waitress stating that I was rude, literally signaling me in front of a crowd saying that I was rude. Neither of us have been to this establishment before and within 20 minutes were told we were being rude. I did not realize that using manners and asking for my drink was being rude. Even all the other patrons could not understand what I had done. I found this to be VERY offensive to both me and my wife. Don't judge people by how others act, especially for a patrons first visit. Maybe finding some nicer staff would be nice, maybe someone to appreciate the customers that come in to your establishment, there are many other places to spend my hard earned money because obviously they don't want it.“

“I had one of the best evenings of my life here, definitely the best I’ve ever had in North America. From the very beginning, the service was outstanding: the waitress took great care of me, always asking how I liked the beer and helping me choose the next one. She really paid attention to my wishes.

As the evening went on, I started chatting with the locals, and as a German visiting Canada, I felt incredibly welcome. The conversations were fun, warm, and genuine. Toward the end of the night, even the owner came out to join us, and we had a fantastic talk about life, the differences between Germany and Canada, and so much more.

It wasn’t just about drinks, it was about the atmosphere, the people, and the feeling of being part of something special. This place made me feel at home on the other side of the world.

Absolutely sensational experience. Five stars without a doubt.“
