Caldense Bakery is a go-to bakery for pastries. The pastries are delicious, with favourites including cheesecake and natas. Customers recommend making more cheesecake because they always go fast. The desserts are fresh and wonderful, with traditional Portuguese desserts such as Nadas and Portuguese custard tarts. The bakery continues the tradition of the Portuguese Custard Tart (Pastel de Nata), following century old methods. The young girls who work there are very friendly, nice, courteous, and professional. There is a place to sit down and drink, and it is very cute and small. They sell hot food and sandwiches, and have a nice Breakfast menu with eggs and bacon with toast. They also have espresso coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, and Canadian coffees. However, the Royal York location is very run down and needs a good cleaning. Service is rushed and generally unenthusiastic. Some customers could not finish the red velvet cake pops as they had an odd texture. It may also be beneficial to have labels on what the baked desserts are.
