“The Fattoush is amazing but unfortunately since our return to work the portions for the fattoush salad are much smaller and for the price of almost $15 it’s difficult to justify. Prior to the pandemic the fattoush portion used to be worth while. I know prices are climbing in everything but dissapointed in the portion size.“

Found this little hidden gem in the.Byward market today, tucked away at the end of York st and King Edward.
The food is made fresh and the Tzaziki sauce is amazing. Since it was a lunch visit I ordered the souvlaki filet mignon pita sandwich. They had me at the first bite.😜
Cant wait to go back and try another food item very soon.

“I love their shawarmas and you can also order potato 🥔 chunks topped regular or hot 🔥 garlic 🧄sauce.
They also sell a variety of exotic bottled fruit juices, such as mango 🥭 and I think Guava as well. 🤔
You cannot go wrong when visiting and ordering something from this long time running food stand, because of their good variety of healthy foods. 😛👍“

“My first time tries this shawarma place. The food is good. The place is clean and big for a big group or families. I ordered mix shawarma plate on weekend deal and it was $19.99 with drink as well (plus $1 if you order mix). Maybe just my preference, I found the beef texture was abit “weird” (like abit softer to compare with other places) but overall, I love everything else. I will come back for sure. I forgot to take pic of my food. The large place is good for 2 people eating and being full. My husband and I ate them all so quick.“

“I discovered La Joie Shawarma about two years ago, and ever since, it’s been part of my weekly routine. The food quality is consistently top everything tastes fresh, and you can tell a lot of care goes into each dish.

The garlic sauce and hummus are incredibly flavorful and perfectly made. As for the beef and the chicken shawarma sandwich, all dressed with spicy sauce and sesame, it’s hands down the best shawarma I’ve had in the Ottawa–Gatineau area. Nothing else comes close. I honestly can’t enjoy shawarma from anywhere else now.

The owner and his team are super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Just a tip: try to get there early at lunchtime because it gets busy really fast!

I've never to this restaurant in person but I did get the pleasure on interacting with the staff and I must say that there are great people working there. I've placed orders online with notes. They call me to clarify what I asked for with such kind attitude. Last time I ordered there, it was a large one. They threw in a free drink and followed notes exactly. Overall 5 starts across the board. Really happy with everything there. :)“
