“Berkeley North brings a creative, seasonal flair to downtown Hamilton, and while not every dish hit the mark, there’s enough promise here to warrant a return.

We opened with the Mushroom Dumplings — easily the highlight of the night. Rich, savory, and balanced with just the right kick from the chili oil, they’re a must-order (10/10). The Tuna Crudo followed with a refreshing citrus ponzu that brought the dish to life — light, clean, and enjoyable.

The Gnocchi, on the other hand, missed the mark for me. Despite the menu’s promise of roasted squash and pork, the dish lacked seasoning and came across bland (5/10). The Rainbow Trout helped bring things back with a well-cooked fillet, artful presentation, and a flavorful Aji Amarillo pepper sauce
simple, but satisfying.

We also added a side of fries, and they were surprisingly good crispy, well-seasoned, and perfect for sharing.

Service & Setting:
The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, with a kitchen that clearly values local ingredients and visual presentation. Service was smooth and professional throughout.

Final Take:
Berkeley North has undeniable potential. While one dish didn’t quite land, others truly delivered and I’ll be back to explore more of the menu. If the rest is anything like the dumplings, there’s a lot worth coming back for.“

“Crooksy’s is a true gem. Everything you could want from a neighbourhood pub. Great food, incredible prices (especially if you stick to weekly specials), fun and quality staff. Crooksy’s is the kind of place you can walk into by yourself and walk out with 3 new friends. If you haven’t tried the wings, you should!!“

“If I could rate this place 10 stars, I would. We have been going to bon temps for many dinners and special occasions. The atmosphere, food, and drinks are all amazing. Phenomenal service. Recently we went back for dinner for a special occasion where the restaurant was closed. I emailed the restaurant to let them know their website was outdated. The owner invited back and once again, we had an absolutely amazing time. Cannot wait to return. This restaurant is a must go. We cannot wait to see what they have in store for the future!!!“

“Burst through the door here on a Saturday night like someone owed me money. My old man and I were out tearing it up before he was going away for 2-3. We saddled up at the bar rail and let it fly. We pounded Black Russian after Black Russian until the heavy set woman beside us became unrecistable. Autopilot took over around 1am and I woke up on the floor of a Motel 6. 10/10 would recommend this bar if your father is going to jail.“

I was watching the TV television when an ethnic man came up to me and asked if I wanted to go skiing.This surprised me for two reasons. First, because there is no snow on the ground or hills to ski on in the immediate area. And second, because I did not know that people of ethnic enjoyed skiing.It is a nice and friendly place, though some customers seem unaware of the seasons.“

“I live right next door to these people they are incredible people Sammy his wife and daughters are very very nice always and the food is incredible and at a great great price the beers are cheap also so if you want to have a great meal and a good time come to Sammy's Bar and I'm right next door so I eat in I take out I do everything there their food is delicious

“This bar is located inside Tim Horton's field and I'm pretty sure only open during events. The service is a little slow but probably because it's during games and very busy there. You can get liquor here which is nice bc some of the bar areas in Tim Horton's field only serve beer.“

“Rolled through here for the first time playing a show with my band. The pictures do not do it enough justice. Vibes were immaculate. Only one person working on a Friday night but the staff there was very nice and the tacos were delicious. Great selection of beer and other drinks with very fair prices. Venue space is unique and has great character as well. Definitely recommend for fans of good dive bars with character or just those looking to enjoy some live music.
