“What a lovely place to celebrate (early) Valentine’s Day! The menu was fun and everything was served fresh with great care and thought. The owner continuously checked up on us which made us feel super welcomed! The Nashville Hot Chicken was a bit too crispy for my liking, but that was quickly set right by a complementary basque cheesecake with burnt caramel (which may be the best we’ve ever had). The atmosphere is so thoughtfully decorated and beautiful and everything is spotless. The service was also great, of course. The cocktails were another highlight; we thoroughly enjoyed the passion fruit martini and winter colada. I would give 6 stars if I could!“

“Saturday night was my first visit to HD and I have to say I was impressed. As a person who has known Dave for many years he has hit a home run here. The clientele, vibe and the service were exceptional. I don't drink anymore and the staff quickly pivoted to non alcohol options and even had booze-less Tequila. Will be back very soon“

“Had a 2 piece cod and chips meal with coleslaw.$18.95. Best fish and chips I have had in a while. Cod was crispy and not overly battered. Good size pieces as well. Too much for me but as the cod was thick it reheated in airfryer the next day beautifully. Now my favorite go to for fish and chips in Hamilton. I want to amend this to say there are new owners as of 2025 and they have changed the menus. This review was from previous owner.“

“We held a celebration of life for my dad at sam"S 03/27/22. The whole experience was amazing and welcoming. The establishment was clean and very courteous too my family and friends. They went above and beyond to help us in any way. Definitely will be back to enjoy their food and music and overall atmosphere.“

“The Brain on Saint James Street is a charming neighbourhood bar with a little bit of funk and a little bit of rustic. It’s compact, but thoughtfully laid out, with more seating than you’d expect. There is something special about the atmosphere and you feel it immediately. You can tell real care went into shaping the space; it feels intentional, comfortable and memorable without trying too hard.

What really sets The Brain apart is the attention to details you don’t usually find in a bar. Alongside coffee, they offer a genuinely considered tea selection that goes well beyond the usual green, black and herbal options. Rooibos teas, often overlooked even in cafés, makes an appearance here and the Zesty Ginger tea is especially good. Prices for tea and coffee are refreshingly on the lower side, especially for the quality.

There’s paid street parking nearby, a washroom downstairs, and both dine-in and to-go options. The bar stays open late (until 2 a.m. even on weekdays, despite Google suggesting otherwise), making it a great spot whether you’re settling in or just passing through.“

“The best dive bar in the area which has a welcoming atmosphere and treats everyone accordingly. The Bartender is awesome, attentive and also pretty. If you’re new in the area and looking to watch sporting events, play pool, dance or meet people then this is the place to go.“

“This bar is located inside Tim Horton's field and I'm pretty sure only open during events. The service is a little slow but probably because it's during games and very busy there. You can get liquor here which is nice bc some of the bar areas in Tim Horton's field only serve beer.“

“My friend and I drove to B-Side Social from Niagara after winning a dozen free oysters and it did not disappoint! The oysters were so good we ordered an additional dozen along with the caprese salad and it was phenomenal! All of the staff was amazing. The owner (I think) or at least the GM came and chatted with us a few times, she had great energy! Our server Autumn was super cute and did a bang up job! Will def recommend and return!“

“A lovely little spot, my sister in law is obsessed with the pancakes, the coffee is great, the breakfast is delicious. There is just never anywhere to sit- ever. So don't go hungry, write your name down, and stroll downtown until they call you for a free table.“

“Rolled through here for the first time playing a show with my band. The pictures do not do it enough justice. Vibes were immaculate. Only one person working on a Friday night but the staff there was very nice and the tacos were delicious. Great selection of beer and other drinks with very fair prices. Venue space is unique and has great character as well. Definitely recommend for fans of good dive bars with character or just those looking to enjoy some live music. This is an awesome spot I can't wait to return to“

“The pastas are really good and the sweet potato fries as well. The caramel apple mocktail was good but they didn’t have apples when I ordered it so that was sad. The bruschetta was yummy but the flatbread(?) part was weirdly stale. Also the water glasses are usually kind of dirty so we try to ask for straws. Good seating though and the staff are always nice. Sad that they’re not open on weekends!“

“Game day for the Ticats. Paired down menu which is totally understandable. We arrived before the game. I was a bit worried… it is an older building, and some renovations (bathrooms) would come in handy. This was like being at a tailgate party!!!
