“Buddies and I had dimsum lunch here on a Wednesday.
They had some early bird special before 11am. We arrived around 11:30, it was 70-80% full.
Dimsum was good , we ordered traditional dimsums and a high tea look dimsum combo. Apparently they had dim sum combo promotion (we didn't know until we exit the restaurant and saw the poster).
Service was visibly inadequate. Need to look around to catch one walking by.
I came here for dinner a few times. Again food was alright. They do have large varieties to satisfy your hunger.“

“Growing up, I never really gravitated toward rice rolls or congee - there were always too many other tempting dishes at dim sum! I found rice rolls too thick and filling, often taking up valuable stomach space that I’d rather reserve for dumplings and other favourites. But Millstone Rice Rolls completely changed my perspective.
The shrimp and pork rice rolls were a revelation. Instead of being thick and heavy, the rice noodle was thin, delicate, and slightly wrinkly - more like a wide noodle than a dense sheet. The filling was generous, with plump shrimp and flavourful pork, and the sweetened soy sauce tied it all together beautifully.
We also tried the rice rolls wrapped around youtiao (egg dough stick), and it might’ve been the best I’ve ever had. The youtiao was soft, chewy, and perfectly salty - none of that hard, mouth-cutting texture I’ve unfortunately experienced elsewhere. Paired with the thin rice roll, it was such a satisfying bite.
The congee we ordered - dried scallop, gingko seed, chicken, ginger, and bean curd stick - also stood out. The rice had a grounded texture, not too mushy but still comforting, with flavours that blended seamlessly. It was surprisingly light for a congee, which made it even more enjoyable.
All in all, I had a really positive experience. Millstone has definitely made me a believer, and I can’t wait to come back to try more.“

“It was out first time. Based on our preferences the waitress helped us choose 2 dishes. After spring rolls, and chicken chow mien and rice we had eaten enough. The waitress smiled and said she had not put the order in for the second dish until we had finished the first. The plate of food was delicious and our meal came quick even though they were busy. The total bill with a 25% tip was only $27!
P.s They accommodate a wheelchair.“

“It was strange, the dishes I ordered (spaghetti bolognese and iced lemon tea) were really delicious, but my bf got Portuguese chicken and iced ying yuen and he said they both tasted weird/not normal. The Portuguese chicken contained pineapple which was unexpected, and he said the ying yuen just didn't taste that good compared to what he's had before. I agree that there really shouldn't be pineapple in Portuguese chicken, but I can't confirm whether it tasted bad or not; I guess if you love pineapple you might enjoy it. They also give a starter soup, and we were given the corn soup, and that was super yummy. Overall it was an average experience for an HK cafe, and depending on what you get it can be a hit or miss.“

“The food was delicious. The Crispy Beef was the best dish!!! We ordered the Hong Shing Fried rice (it was okay - I would recommend that you have them add the Soy Sauce to this as they give you this option- for more flavour), Black Bean Sauce Beans (excellent) and General Tao Chicken (this was okay).“

“If you’re craving dim sum in the heart of downtown, this spot is definitely worth a visit. We had such a great time enjoying everything we ordered, especially the variety of dim sum dishes—they were fresh, flavourful, and served hot. The ambiance is relaxed yet inviting, and the service was warm and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
They start you off with hot tea, which is a nice traditional touch, and their menu is huge, offering a wide selection of dim sum and other Chinese favourites. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to come back just to try more dishes. One thing we really appreciated is that they also offer a happy hour, which makes the experience even better, especially if you’re looking to enjoy good food at great value.
I’m already planning to return soon, and next time I’ll definitely be trying the lobster—it looked amazing on the menu. Whether you’re a dim sum lover or just looking for a casual spot with solid food downtown, this place hits the mark.“

“Absolutely delicious bbq pork, duck, and char siu that won't break the bank.
I go here every other week or so when I'm too lazy to make lunch. You can get a hefty portion of rice and meat of your choice for around $12-$14 (cash only). You can also order meat by the pound and cook your own rice at home.
They've truly perfected the technique. A lot of locals come here for lunch which will result in a wait, but it goes to show how popular it is amongst those in the area. If you're ever around, I'd highly recommend giving this place a try!“

“The oxtail soup noodle tasted so good! The signature stone mill rice rolls were fantastic but next time I’m gonna try their classic independent flavor rice rolls! The fried dumplings were mediocre as the taste and the portion were both not very impressive. The vibe was very old Cantonese style restaurant. I’ll make an immediate renovation here if I am the business owner. :)“

“This place has been one of our regular spots since 2015, and it never disappoints. It’s tucked inside a food court, so the vibe is pretty basic — no fancy seats or decor, just a casual, no-frills setup. But don’t let that put you off — the food here is the real deal.
We usually get the white cut chicken rice or soy sauce chicken rice. Both come in classic takeaway-style boxes and taste just like the dishes you’d find in Guangdong or Hong Kong. The portions are solid — enough to fill you up without breaking the bank. The soup that comes with it is kind of bland, but honestly, it’s not the main event.
The service is fast, even during the lunch rush, and the cashier is always friendly. It can get a bit hectic, but that’s part of the charm. Most of the crowd are middle-aged Chinese locals, which says a lot about how authentic the food is.
All in all, this spot offers great value and consistently tasty food. If you’re into Cantonese flavors and don’t mind a casual setting, this is absolutely worth checking out. We’ll definitely keep coming back.“

“Visited this Chinese BBQ stall in the First Markham Place food court and ordered the red sausage and BBQ pork on rice. At $10, including Chinese cabbage and a side of soup, it’s one of the best values you’ll find in the city.
The flavours were great, and the portion size was generous. However, the fattiness of the meat can be inconsistent depending on the time of day — something to be aware of if you have a preference for leaner cuts.
Expect a wait. We went on a weekday evening and waited around 15 minutes. Also note that it’s cash only, so plan accordingly.“

“It's Chinese style soup, more specifically, Cantonese soup style. It's a great choice for people who do not have the time to cook the soup at home that needs lengthy attention. It tastes as expected, not greasy at all. Definitely recommend for those who are looking for nutrition soup.“

“Food 4/5
Service 4/5
Vibe 3/5 (food court so nothing fancy)
If you want something fast and not needing to wait in like for those Hong Kong Style Cafe in Markham, this is the place!
It is technically open kitchen😂so everything is made fresh upon your eyes.
I love their pan fried vermicilii and hong kong style ice milk tea! (It can get bitter sometimes so ask for more sugar, they are nice)
Overall great pricing, easy and homey! 5/5“

“Amazing. Fresh super busy food doesn’t sit long. The crispy ginger chicken is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I’m surprised the owner recognizes me as I’ve only been 3 times. This was the first place I ate at outside my house for 3 years we didn’t because of Covid. Now I go every Friday. It’s a hidden gem and a must try. Be careful you may get addicted.“

“The food is great but I don't know if it justifies over $20 a bowl of noodles after tax and tips. The lady that works at nights is great but why is she the ONLY server in the entire restaurant? The poor girl was running around the restaurant servicing over 10 tables at the same time and couldn't even catch a breath. She was so polite and so quick though and does a great job every time we go.She's the reason the restaurant is getting a 4 star; I'd give management a 0 for being cheap and not hiring extra help.“
“Have been going here since 2017. My kid grew up eating this home meal ?. This place is perfect for young professionals couples who are both busy working and taking care of young kids and don't have much time to cook healthy yet yummy Chinese home cook meals.Did I mention the ? soup? It comes with every meal and not oily at all. Love it!To get their weekly menu, call them directly and ask to be included in their mailing list.“

“When I was working at Guangdong TV station more than 30 years ago, I often went to the nearby "Dake" food stall to eat. Stir-fried beef rice noodles, hand-pulled rice rolls, chicken rice porridge, braised pig intestines, cold melon beef, etc. were all must-haves for us. Called Xiaodian. Unexpectedly, a "Dake" porridge, noodle and porridge shop opened in Toronto many years ago. The store's hand-pulled rice rolls have thin, tender skin, and the porridge is made with authentic ingredients, full of flavor, and is reasonably priced. Worth recommending.“

Rice was well made and there was a very good variety and portion of toppings. Their service is fast and meals even come with a drink. Remember to bring cash!“

“Canton Chilli, nestled in the heart of Chinatown, is a culinary refuge for anyone seeking warmth and comfort. On a particularly frigid evening, after an exhausting search for a functional RBC debit machine, I found myself wandering the bustling streets of Chinatown, defeated and chilled to the bone. In my aimless roaming, Canton Chilli appeared like an oasis of light and warmth amidst the chaos.
Inside, the restaurant radiates a welcoming simplicity. Pop music plays softly over the hum of sizzling woks, and the air is filled with the unmistakable aroma of garlic, ginger, and soy. I ordered the chicken sweet corn soup for $9.95 and a complimentary spring roll, unaware I was about to experience pure culinary comfort.
The spring roll was a revelation. Its golden, crispy exterior shattered with the perfect crunch, revealing an umami-rich vegetable filling that was earthy and satisfying. It wasn’t just a starter; it was a promise of the meal to come.
The chicken sweet corn soup arrived steaming and fragrant. Each spoonful offered tender shreds of chicken and bursts of sweet corn suspended in a creamy, golden broth. The subtle seasoning, with a gentle kick of white pepper, elevated it beyond ordinary comfort food—it was restorative, like a warm hug in a bowl, evoking memories of home and care.
Canton Chilli also excels in family-style dining. Their special family dinners, ranging from two to four items, provide a perfect balance of variety and value, making them ideal for any gathering. Dishes like General Tso’s chicken, shrimps with mixed vegetables, Manchurian-style hake chow mein, and their iconic vegetarian spring rolls cater to every palate, from the adventurous eater to the traditionalist.
In a city known for its fast pace, Canton Chilli offers a moment of pause—a place to share a meal, connect with loved ones, or simply find solace after a long day. For me, it was not just a meal but a lifeline on a cold night, proof that comfort and kindness can be found in the unlikeliest of places. Canton Chilli is more than a restaurant; it’s a reminder that food, at its best, is both nourishment and sanctuary.“

“Fast legit canto take-out food court restaurant.
I mean the food was good enough and worth more than the price paid.
Great alternative to cooking at home. Or sitting down at restaurant paying a more premium price plus tip.
Price was $26 tax-in, cash for 2 dishes and also a box of rice. I would say, it’s enough 2 ppl, plus also pack a lunch for next day.
Pretty legit deal!
Definitely will return when I don’t feel like going to dine-out or cooking. Just grab some take-out on the way home.“

“My parents favorite. Fast and tasty.
We have been to this restaurant many times as a fast and affordable Chinese banquet hall option. We generally get seated before 6 to get ahead of the weekend dinner crowd.
Food starts to arrive within 10 minutes of ordering. Service is attentive and friendly.
Recommended dishes: beef mushroom rolls, mustard fish fillets.“

“I’ve been to this place many times, and it never disappoints! Their Peking roast duck is absolutely delicious—crispy skin, tender meat, and very reasonably priced. I also love taking the leftover duck bones home to make a rich and flavorful noodle soup.
The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Every visit feels like catching up with an old friend, and chatting with her always brightens my day.
Highly recommend this place!

“This salt-baked chicken is so delicious! ! !At first, I didn’t have a clear understanding of the difference between shredded chicken.Ordered a direct cut?Slightly salty, it’s just delicious boiled chicken! The flavorful one! Very fresh! good smell! Special meal! The chicken breasts were very tender and not stale at all. Just eat it with green onion and ginger soul sauce and you can really enjoy two bowls of rice.-Today I ordered hand-shredded chicken and salt-baked chicken. They will actually cut it for you on the spot?, tear it on the spot, season it, and toss it??The chicken breast is still very tender, moist and tasty.Chicken skin is crispy and not greasyI am so in love with you that I must give everyone my blessing! ! ! ! !“

“Edit: visited the restaurant again recently. All we ordered is still pretty good, except the deep fried foods. Wu Gok and Ham Sui Gok were tasteless, extremely oily, and deformed. Oil leaked to the table cloth from tissue 🤮. Not presentable and edible. Sesame ball was sugary and overly sweet. Reduced 1 star.
This restaurant is spacious, modern, and relaxing. Dimsum price is reasonable and comparable to other regular dimsum places around the area. Service is friendly and attentive. Tea pots were never left empty without hot water. Extra hot water pot was offered without being asked. One of the waiters asked twice to make sure I had enough food containers for leftovers. Overall, the foods I ordered were pretty good, other than the following... Hagao's skin and rice roll were too soft. Daan tat (egg tart) shell was way too thick and it did not have enough custard filling. As a bonus, a heated jar was provided to keep tea hot and not over-brewed in the tea pots.“

“I stopped by this restaurant just as a quick eat place but ended up staying there for a while- so beware! However, the food that I received was truly out of this world. I will recommend this place ten times out of ten to someone that wants a good, hearty, hot meal. It may not look appealing from the outside but I promise you that you will be leaving fully satisfied and wanting to come back the second you step foot out the door! Not only is the food delicious, the prices are super reasonable! Stop by this place if you’re in the area or go out of your way to try it - you won’t be disappointed!“

“This is a place with the best bang for the buck. You can get 2 lobster, half a steamed chicken, and 4 other dishes of your choosing for 85 dollars. It was enough to feed our table of 8. The food is cooked really well. Typical Cantonese food with great value. It seems like this is the place where time forgot to update the price.
The service is interesting to say the least. The servers are rude, inpatient and full of sass but we had a great time coming here. We were prompted before hand about the rudeness of this place and went in with those expectations. It’s hilarious the small server lady can dish out so much condescending words to her co workers and her patrons and still have people lining out the door. It became comedic to me and reminded me of stereotypical 1970 diners you see in movies.
Truly an awesome experience! Food is great for the price but sometimes in life, you have to be humbled to stay grounded. For 100 bucks, you can get a good meal for 8 people and a life lesson.“
