“Absolutely loved my experience at The Big Brother! The food quality is outstanding—every dish is packed with flavor and clearly made with care. You can really taste the authenticity of their Shunde-style Cantonese cuisine, especially in their signature dishes like the black bean stew duck and roasted pork ribs.
The menu offers a great variety, from comforting soups to beautifully prepared seafood and wok-fried classics, making it perfect whether you're dining with family or hosting a group.
Service was warm and attentive, and the restaurant itself is clean, bright, and welcoming. It’s clear the team takes pride in both the food and the overall dining experience.
If you’re looking for high-quality Cantonese cuisine in Richmond Hill, this place is definitely worth visiting. I’ll be coming back again for sure!“

“Your soups taste just like the ones my mom makes, so comforting and amazing! My mom hasn’t been in Toronto lately, so no one’s been making soup for me. I had a terrible cough recently, with that “razor blade throat” feeling (those who know, know 😭😭). Thankfully, your soups saved me!!!“

“I'm from NYC, so I'm no stranger to congee and noodle soup, but I've never had anything quite like Congee Wong. We arrived right when they opened, and the roast duck came out perfectly cooked, crispy skin with juicy, tender meat. The handmade fish balls were fresh and had a great texture.
The standout was the clam and fish congee. It was incredibly flavorful, and the consistency stayed smooth and creamy throughout the entire meal without becoming watery. The beef stew was rich, tender, and packed with flavor. And the stir-fried radish cake was absolutely amazing, we couldn't stop eating it. Overall, everything was fresh, comforting, and executed exceptionally well.“

“Can’t ask for more than this. Location is Richmond Hill with service. Lunch combo is under $10, serving up portions that make the price feel like a steal — quality that holds its own, no corners cut. This is the kind of value you can afford daily.“

“We ordered the West Gate Style Street Noodles. It took around 20 minutes for the food to arrive, but the portion was quite big and the price was reasonable.
The noodles are a bit different from what I expected — it’s more like noodles in congee rather than noodles in a regular soup broth. Still tasty and quite filling.
The restaurant itself is clean and spacious, and the price is acceptable for the portion. Overall, a decent place for Cantonese-style food.“

“Joyous is the best restaurant in North York. Great and friendly service. Dim sum and dinner dishes are delicious and price is reasonable. Good quality scallops and shrimps dishes! Overall good quality food, friendly service and delicious meals! Everytime we dine in this restaurant, always have a great meal. And the restaurant is clean and pleasant, especially their washrooms, always clean and no wet floors , unlike other Chinese restaurants… sticky, wet floors and stinky smells. Keep up the good work! Well done!“

“come here when i crave hk cafe food, i love their iced lemon tea for a dollar extra when you order with them, combo i think? i always order the signature baked chicken on rice with tomato sauce, which a drink comes with it but hot. the portion is good, usually feeds me twice for 14.50. plus the drink is iced so 15.5. great value for what you get!
no tax if you pay cash (not sure if they take card)

“Stir fried beef chow fun on the right (乾炒牛河) and fried egg noodle with beef and seasonal vegetables on the left (時菜牛肉炒麵). BOTH together for only $17.00 ($8-$9 each) taxes included AND complimentary drink (chrysanthemum tea/soy milk) OR soup of the day. This is value town. Prices cannot be beat, especially in this economy. Not only is it economical, it rivals if not exceeds sit down restaurant quality and taste. Both ladies working the register are very pleasant to deal with. Highly recommended. One of my go-to Chinese take-out spots!“
“Have been going here since 2017. My kid grew up eating this home meal ?. “This is probably one of my favorite clay pot rice places. I was initially unhappy with the takeout but dining in is definitely a whole other experience. I came at around 6 and it wasn’t as full then but not long after, more people started showing up and this place fills up fast. I got the chicken and preserved meat with double meat and I promise, getting double meat is well worth it. It’s so deeply savory and filling and I was easily able to have leftovers for the following day. The crispy rice adds such great texture and the chicken is unbelievably tender. Will happily go back and get the eel rice again with double meat this time.“

“STILL our favourite place for Chinese Casserole Rice spot in Markham✨A MUST GET in our books here is their Olive Veg & Beef on Rice (Add a Raw Egg and thank me later!!). The Olive Veg adds so much umami to the tender Beef slices and Rice, mixed with Raw Egg and their Sweet Soy, so BOMB! Preserved Meat & Minced Pork had mixed Chinese Preserved Meats, all that on top of their Minced Pork Patty, it was lovely as well😋“

“Gourmet Kitchen is tucked away in the corner food court at the Silver Star plaza. Got the lo mai fan (Cantonese sticky rice) and it was so flavourful!! Rice was well made and there was a very good variety and portion of toppings. Their service is fast and meals even come with a drink. Remember to bring cash!“

“A REAL Hakka restaurant! I almost pokai when I found this place thinking that no way this is real.
Yep, it is real and is not the Indian Hakka that we always see!!!!
Stuffed peppers and tofu was really yummy!
Had the lo bak and it was nice.
Salt baked chicken was delicious!
I will come back.“

“We went for dim sum not lobster so keep this into context.
The dim sum was great and they have a special where the small/medium/large dishes are all small price.
All of the dishes were well done. The special bbq pork buns and octopus tentacles were especially good.“

“Yesterday I took 3 buses just to get here, and it was absolutely worth the trip. As someone who lived in Guangzhou for 5 years and ate plenty of braised goose there, I was genuinely impressed by the quality here.🪿The meat is firm and flavorful, and it’s rich without being greasy.
On top of the amazing food, the owners were incredibly kind and welcoming🥺Their hospitality made me feel genuinely warm and appreciated as a customer🥹
I’ll definitely be coming back, and I truly hope their business continues to grow. They deserve all the success!😋😋“

“I don't know what I was doing or watching the day I visited Good Casserole for lunch..but I had this CRAVING for a good rice noodle roll. And its been ages since I had a good one. Thank god for IG reviews, found this GEM in old stomping grounds in Scarborough in a plaza we would pass frequently. I have to say....this place is my GO TO all the time for this rice noodle roll specialty. I can't get enough and look forward to my next visit.
The family working there are so lovely and I think they really appreciated watching me savour every bite.“
“I have been back twice and definitely plan to return! We went there specifically for their frozen dim sum. They come in huge packs yes so their Shrimp Dumpling will cost you 30 for 50 pieces which works out to be .60 each. Their quality is good. Their regular dumpling also good. This time we tried their japanese black sesame bun and i thought its really very good. Its not too sweet and super soft. And no this isnt some family promo. I think I like this japanese black sesame bun more than most dim sum restaurant dessert buns. My husband likes their lotus wrap dumpling. Plan to be back.“

“Millstone Rice Rolls is such a great spot if you're looking for authentic Hong Kong-style comfort food at an affordable price. Everything we ordered was made fresh to order, and you can really taste the difference. The rice rolls were silky smooth with generous fillings, and the congee was warm, flavorful, and perfect for a comforting meal.
One of the best parts is the value—you can easily enjoy a delicious and filling meal for under $15 per person, which is hard to find these days. The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly, and our food arrived quickly despite being freshly prepared.
If you're a fan of traditional Hong Kong rice rolls or simply looking for a budget-friendly meal in Richmond Hill, this spot is definitely worth checking out. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!“
