I don't know what was going on for t g, but I'm a very white man and I've always been welcomed there. Anyway, the family that owns it is Turkish, and what colour do they imagine Turks are? Western Turks look like Italians. Besides Turkish food, they do have some Arab and Balkan food. As someone else has noted, the Turkish leaf tea is a great deal. I don't think you can get good-quality tea any cheaper in Ottawa.
It is a very good shop with reasonable prices. Prices for Turkish Leaf teas are very cheap. Staff is nice but some young guys at butchery should be more polite and not like robots. Helal olsun

The Turkish market, located approximately 11 km away from the city center (Parliament building), has free parking and we can find many Turkish and Mediterranean products we need, but the store is not well organized and many products do not have sales price tags. The employees are good and helpful.
