Pho Ong Thin Reviews
Terrible experience at Sugar Marmalade today at the Nepean/Barrhaven location. They have decided to no longer honour their ‘deals’ on WagJag and Groupon, yet they are still selling the ‘deals’ with their location and the Rideau location listed. I think this is awful business practice and can’t believe they are allowed to get away with this! I do not recommend supporting this business!
Poor business ethics: We purchased a promotional Groupon a month ago, but the owners at the Ottawa location decided just this past week to stop participating. This demonstrates poor business tactics.
Highly discriminatory hiring practices. They stated on their hiring ads that they would not accept job applications from Hongkongers on Stream B Open Work Permits.

Pho Ong Thin is a restaurant with a warm and inviting ambiance, offering a nice lunch spot with good ambient lighting. The place looks clean, bright, and well-lit, with clean booths and a new, clear menu. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
The food receives mixed but generally positive feedback. The pho Ap Chao is frequently praised for its rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced broth with tender, fresh beef and lots of meat. The soup broth is described as delicious, light, but rich and complex, with noodles cooked to perfection. Other dishes like fried tentacles, chicken and shrimp fried rice, pork cutlet sukiyaki, and shrimp spring roll are noted as very good, tasty, and fresh. The takoyaki with nori, bonito and 2 sauces is called the best, and Grampa's garlic pho has a big toasted garlic flavor.
For dessert, the shaved ice is a popular item. The water melon matcha shaved ice is considered the best, though some found the regular shaved ice lacking matcha flavor. The green tea shaved ice with boba, lychee, and green tea ice cream is also highly praised. A watermelon matcha shaved ice is specifically mentioned as the best. A delicious aloe bbt is also noted. While some felt the shaved ice was a bit pricey (~$20), it was good enough to split. Overall, the restaurant is a great find for surprisingly good Asian fusion food.
