“This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. I have tried many Pad Thais and this restaurant has the best Pad Thai I have ever had. This restaurant is most accommodating in helping my son, who has gluten and soy sensitivities, find things he can eat. “Went here on lunch and called to make sure they had gluten free (which they did!). The food was amazing, very flavourful and authentic. The place was so clean not a spec of dust! “We went during the Victoria Day long weekend after going to the Ottawa Tulip Festival. All restaurants were busy that weekend and although we made a reservation at a different restaurant, they reached capacity and the long wait would have gotten us late to see the fireworks and drone show. This restaurant was able to seat us and the two girls working there were so accommodating, patient and sweet. Food was great and the decor was cute! Will definitely go again to try other dishes.“

The lady who answered the phone for Aiyara Restaurant was very helpful and even suggested what foods I can order. I had the yellow chicken curry with jasmine rice and it was delicious. “We have been eating at Sabai Thai for years since we worked in the immediate area. The food is authentic, delicious and the portions are generous. This is right up there with other restaurants in terms of menu selection, but they blow everyone else away in terms of taste and value for money. Mel and her family work so hard and give so much back to the food community in Ottawa, can’t recommend this place enough!“

“Good food, small space and big heart! Social Thai serves good food in a small space run by the nicest people. Don't judge the place from the outside. It is tiny with just a few tables. Venture inside for good food. We started with veggie and shrimp eggrolls, crispy and tasty. We had curry for the main course. Spicyness was subtle and potent but not overwhelming. We finished our meals with some delicious pistachio and chocolate pastries. If space and surroundings matter to you, try their take out. We will remember the restaurant as the small place offering good food serve by friendly people. Social Thai on the corner of Bank and Waverley.“

“Finally today, I decided to go back to Thai Express. I work just across the street and due to bad customer service from my previous experiences, I avoided the place. Today, I thought to give them another chance, and I thought to myself that I would just suck it up on the bad service. Well, I received burnt food for takeout. Customer service was finally improved because the regular girl cashier no longer worked there, but how could you possibly serve customers burnt food? You can smell it as you were cooking and you can see the blackness. There's a snow storm out so I didn't bother to go back, so I had to eat this terrible food I paid for. The franchisor of Thai Express really should be aware of this place, I have heard nothing but horrible things about them. And once again, they have proved everyone right.

UPDATE*** There's a new owner at this location and they have honestly changed this place around. The food is delicious, the customer service is superb. I am truly impressed with the new staff and happy to come back here over and over again. Thank you!“

“Quality of food has gone downhill. General Tao chicken was sour and house fried rice was basically chicken fried rice with 2 shrimp thrown in. Very disappointed.“

The portion is huge compared to other Thai Express I’ve been to. The interior is clean and well lit. I will definitely be back!“

“Spice is good. Pad sew with beef was good. A little too salty for my preference.

Salt and pepper shrimp was nice but missing the crunch factor cause it was skinless. But lots of people prefer peeled shrimp - so this is the place for those people. I just prefer the crunch from the non peeled salt and pepper shrimp :)“

“Alright, so this place kind of struck me as soon as I walked in by just being wonderfully quiet compared to the street outside. I came in on a really hot, busy weekday, and inside it was just serenely quiet and cool. The tables are awesome, even if it’s maybe a weird thing to fixate on, but they’re these big, solid wood tables with like 2 inch thick quartz granite tops. It was really nice to put your arms on the cool granite on a super hot day. It was just a really nice sensory contrast to the street outside.

I have been to many Thai express during the road trips across East Ontario and Quebec and I always expect the same taste for my Pad Thai. However, the tastes are all slightly different from restaurant to restaurant. This restaurants gives the taste that I expect and I believe this is what chain restaurants value the most.

Plus, the kitchen area and tables are always kept clean, staff is quite but very professional.“
